Ok, the most insane thing happened last night. My bf is bored and I am working a double so he decides to check my bike out and see why it's so sluggish. (It had stalled out on him on 495 when he was doing about 90mpg. The bike wouldn't go any faster than that, and the tach wouldn't go higher than 7k- hope that makes sense!) Anyway so he takes the gas tank off the bike to look at the air filter, and lo and behold- I kid you not- he finds...get this... DOG FOOD IN THE AIR FILTER!!!!!!!!!!  :o  He was laughing as he left me this message on my cell last night. I listened to it and I really thought he was busting my ****s!!! Tell me... WHY would someone put DOG FOOD in a bike?!?!??!?! He put carb cleaner in the bike and took the DOG FOOD out and now it runs much better! Is this the most insane story you've all ever heard or what?  :thumb:

ROFL!!!!  OMG that is hilarious!  Well, if I wasn't laughing so hard, I would be saying that at least you found the problem! :)  :)  :)

No kidding! I hope that's all that's in the bike! Next thing you know I'll change the exhaust and find dog bones in there or something!  :?

Crykey,  wot we have hare is a cayse in which some fuzzy rodents, Mice you yanks call em, makin a bit o a nist in your filter assembly.   Thank you steve irwin.   You have  a dog yes? Bike doesnt get use often? Mice have taken refuge in your filter and like squirls pack away food in nice little hidey places.  Airboxes are perfect if not uesd often. there are no trails to show thier comings and goings.  exhaust pipes aswell, but to a lesser degree. feild mice are REALLY bad about this.  Jet the carbs and put on some K&N filters. otherwise start the bike 2 x per week.

I'm hoping to hear about the two flaming hairballs that come flying out the tailpipe after the bike is fired up for the first time after a long winter storage...

Hey Blue-
Love the commentary but actually no I don't own a doggie- the former owner did though, and there were small brothers running around that I think would have thought this was funny. They also kept the bike in more of what I would call a barn than a garage. Dusty dirt floor and doors that swing OUT rather than a door that opens electrically if you catch my drift! So, I think this occurred with the previous owner and I rode it all summer that way unknowingly.

No fireballs please!!!!!!!!!!  :x

LOL!

There is a chipmunk that has taken up residence in my laboratory. Periodically when I move boxes or parts around on the shelves, I'll find a small cache of water-oak nuts.

He seems to know better than to leave them in any vehical so far...

yep, figured as much, so, being as this little event slipped under your radar from prev Owner. i would take the time to really go through the bike, pull the tank, the seat, the battery, side panels and headlight out of the bucket. look at all the wires slowly and  CLOSELY, Coil wires, wiring harness, plugs and sockets.  look at light bulb sockets, and such. Mice also like chewing. take the time and do it. check the grounding points cleanup and then protect connections. light coat of spray paint on grounding lug, on batt terminals, or Vaseline smeard on said spots works well to.  trust me, it beats finding these things after  your done pushing the bike.

The statistics showing an ever-increasing rate of suicides among mice is staggering.  I feel if this trend continues, special interest groups will have no choice but to make room and accept the newest victims of poverty and poor living conditions.

The RCLU = Rodent Civil Liberty Union...

They will demand a moratorium on garage cleaning.  Limiting this activity to once every three years instead of yearly will ensure the survival of the species.

Limiting cat owner ship will soon follow.  Although I have to go along with this one, I fear my obsession with watching cats cough up fur balls may be in jeopardy.

Thats pretty funny, I have had mice take up residence in my golf bag during the winter, but not my GS. Wouldn't it have been funny if it was still in there?
