So about a week or so ago I had ordered the Cortech sport saddle bags from www.newenough.com :icon_mrgreen: . After paying for shipping to Canada and all it came to 145.94 USD. Then Canada customs decided that i needed to give them 25 CDN dollars for duty :2guns: . After paying for shipping to Canada and all it came to 145.94 USD.  O well, i got them yesterday and thought I'd snap a few pic's for y'all to see.

Attached the front strap around the "V" in which the passenger peg mounts.

This is where i attached the rear strap, as you can see around the luggage rail (?) right before one of the mushroom studs.

Bag on the RHD with the "extension" unzipped

One of the rain bags shown

Bag from the LHD side all zipped up

That is all for now, hope I help someone down the line looking for some info on the saddle bags, if anyone needs another picture I would be glad to help out

Cheers,

You may want to place those straps under your seat though. Or as soon as you walk away your gear will walk away! My Nelson Riggs fit under so yours should too! Mine were 80 at New Enough! Here they are at work!

PS I forgot to add I believe they are on backwards! In my pic they are. I always wondered why the bottle holder was soo far away! LOL

Nice bags !

I have a set of tourmaster bags (older style). You -really- want to put a protective layer of something on the plastics underneath the bags. All the road grime / dust you see turns into sand paper under those bags and eats your paint/plastic in no time !

That green in the background looks like a really nice neighborhood too :)

enjoy

Did you try connecting the rear straps together, then go under the tail light with them? That's what worked best with my soft luggage...

LOL about the green, my neighbour's DO NOT take care of anything on their property so that green stuff is their plants growing over to my lawn. haha...  Because i live almost in the "core" of Toronto our houses are very very close together... But all that brick that is under my bike right now is soon to be gone..

What would you put underneath the bags, they did come with some soft rubber like material that is supposed to protect the bike on the underside of the bags, are you saying that is insufficient?

Suzuki Stevo:

I never did try the straps that way, I'll go out any play today to see which way I like better. My thinking was that I  wanted the straps to pull down on the luggage to prevent buffeting.

TooGoofy317:

Maybe I am just too trusting.. or us Canucks aren't all thieves  :D :bs: , but i don;t think anyone is going to steal them here.. if i go inside anywhere for a prolonged period, ill take them with me ( like a mall or whatever). I really just bought them for trips and commuting to work cause i HATE carrying my backpack on the highway.

Wow, I never thought of putting the straps under the seat haha.  I'll have to give that a shot!

Bluesmudge

Yeah, that's what I did with my fieldsheer contour bags, put it under the seat. Makes them impossible to steal with out cutting the straps. I just use a small cable lock on the bags and between that and being under the seat I have no problem leaving them on all the time.

The neoprene that comes with most saddlebags is really good stuff for protecting your bike, but you should frequently clean the bike and the pad to prevent dust/dirt buildup.

One question for everyone with saddlebags: How do you get around the fact that you lose your helmet lock? I love my saddlebags because it takes away a lot of hassles of moving stuff, but it adds one since I now don't know what to do with my helmet if I'm going somewhere I can't store it safely indoors (like school or a store).

Toogoofy317

Yeah, I do have to carry my lid with me! I never leave my lid on the bike! I had a friend that had someone piss in his! The look on his face when he put it on well it almost had vomit added as well. Another thing in Florida we have the daily rains so....

At work I leave it in the office. I work in security soo if it disappears that would really be wrong. I'd think the only worse thing would be working in a police station and it get's stolen. One thing to do is maybe strap the chin straps to the grab bar and lace a cable lock through it. :dunno_white:

Man, I always leave my helmet on the bike as well as my magnetic tank bag and don't really worry about them getting stolen.

I do usually put my gloves and gps under the seat when parking somewhere other than my garage though.

Toogoofy317

Last time I left my tank bag on in my apartment complex was gone in less than 45 minutes! Went to go in for something got diverted on a phone call came back GONE! The only thing in it at the time was my handicapped tag and registration. They left the mounting gear so it was totally useless to them  :2guns:

In Orlando if it isn't nailed down it will walk away! I've even heard they will cut helmet straps and take the helmets you will see a few on CL here and there and at pawn shops. WTF who would buy a helmet without a chin strap :dunno_white:

I'm getting pretty well fed up with it!

I love that pic Mary! But do they let you push it through the supermarket when you go shopping or do you have to use one of their ghetto shopping carts?  ;)

Toogoofy317

I walk in rather quickly! Don't give them a chance to say anything. If the security does say something I just flip my security creds and that usually gets me through as well. I guess they think I'm undercover or something. But, yeah not an issue! When I turn Flick into a shopping cart I have the tank bag and a back pack rolled into it that way I can pack really welll. I usually go in to get a "few" things and well it turns into the above picture. LOL women!

I saw a guy the other night coming out of the ABC Liquor store trying to strap a case of natty light on the tail of an R1.  I got a chuckle, but he did it and off he went.

How are you feeling about the size of the sport saddlebags? I'm debating between them and their "standard" saddlebags, b/c I'll be doing some travelling on my bike this summer. Let me know how you feel and how much you can really jam into those suckers.

Haven't had a chance to pack them to capacity, but I'd reckon you could get away with packing a weeks worth of clothes ( packing lightly) as well as the stuff needed for longer journeys (chain lube, oil.. whatever else). Don't forget that there is a matching tail bag that just "buckles" into the saddle bags http://www.newenoughhp.com/luggage/tail_bags/cortech_by_tour_master/sport_motorcycle_tail_bag.html. With that combo you should be good to go.

Suzuki Stevo, what's your setup? I can't really make it out. I don't recognize the "R" symbol.

Its "FS" - fieldsheer.

Don't EVER - repeat EVER - buy their gloves.  I've bought 3 pairs of fieldsheer gloves, and they're crap.

I really like fieldsheer stuff. Even their gloves, I very happily own two pairs.

Just ordered the Cortech Sport Saddlebags. Hope I can jam enough stuff in them to do some touring. The tailbag is next!

Man! When I see all these saddle and tank bags this picture comes to mind...

Couple of questions though for those that use them.

1. Is there a lot of wind load on windy days?
2. Does extended use leave wear marks on the side panels?
3. Do you load the rear shock when you add all of that weight?
