There's alot of posts on this, but none that mention an american distributor of the R&G frame sliders.

They are $96 converted from the ~55 british pounds.  It is what it is but at least theres no shipping from the UK.  They are located in Georgia.

So here it is:

I just won a brand new pair off ebay for $68 shipped. Seemed like a good deal, but I didn't know there was a US reseller.

you can run frame sliders on the gs but if you look at all the pics they are to low and will only save your motor and nothing else

I think they will make a decent highway peg too.

myfirstluv

I think so too.

Because when you fall without the pegs the right corner of the left faring, the bar end and the tires are in contact with the road.  The bike slides flat on the side fairing, which is what happened to me.

With the sliders their it would prevent the topside of the fairing from being in contact with the road unless the bike for some reason tips over the peg and onto the topside of the fairing.

So the point being, for the most part, it would be protected enough from cracking.  Scratches can be easily touched up, with the colorrite.com paint.

highway pegs on a sport bike theres an idea that way you can ride while doing situps.  with all the people moving there driver pegs down and back i dont see anyone using the UP and FORWORD placement of the flame slider as a highway peg.  if anyone actually does this post up a pic cuz it sure doesnt sound comfy to me

Somebody on here not to long ago had a picture of a piece of rebar i think that they had attached to their frame that they were using as highway pegs.

These would fit in the full fairing gs500f.

You just have to drill a hole in the side fairing, the size of the extension piece.

I haven't tried it, just because its a little expensive and I'm not confident with drilling into the fairing.  A future, but eventual mod.

FYI:  A replacement fairing by itself costs ~$150-180 new and the fairing stickers cost ~$160 (not sure if its for both sides or just one side)

I have been wanting to get frame sliders for my '04 but have not been wanting to be drilling holes through the fairings.  I have been trying to figure out some other way to protect the fairing in case of a crash.  If i end up getting a pipe bender and welder this winter i might try to make something that will act as a case guard/frame slide that won't require drilling a hole in the fairings but don't expect to much progress on this any time soon.
