My bulb recently burnt out and was looking for the regular Silverstar bulb that I had in it before and found something new that caught my eye called Silverstar ULTRA("For ultra night vision"). When I got home I installed it right away and went for a drive at night. I must say, it does what it's advertising. The regular Silverstar one says 30% better lighting over a regular bulb, and the ULTRA is 10-20% better over the regular Silverstar bulb. I definitely saw a difference, and it looks to have a wider and have more distance range, very nice on dark roads, and the same wattage as my old one(60/55W).

Very much worth the extra $10 bucks over the regular Silverstar bulb. I paid $30.

If somebody wants, I can take some pics to compare lighting in low beams but not in high beam since that's what went out(I ride with my high beams on mostly, even in the day sometimes). I think this bulb really shows it's stuff when it's on high beams though.

Here's a pic of the packaging and my old bulb on the left. The new ULTRA bulb has a gold tip instead of a silver tip like you see on my old one:

is the entire length of that bulb tinted blue?

Yes it is, but it doesn't look blue when it's on, maybe slightly if you look in detail.

Low beam on regular Silverstar bulb:

Low beam on Silverstar Ultra bulb:

Like I said my high beams is the one that burnt out so I couldn't compare, but that where I think made the difference between the two. I could definitely notice a difference on seeing each side of the side walk and more distance between the two. Like it says on the regular Silverstar packaging: 30-35% over a regular bulb, and for the Sillverstar ULTRA: 40-50% over a regular bulb. That's a 10-20% difference over the regular Silverstar.

we need the exif on the photos to make sure the same settings applied on both pictures. If one is even slightly more exposed than the other, then the comparison is moot.

....unless it's tagged to the photo and Chrome doesn't pick up exif data....

I did move the bike to the middle of the street to try to get some real life shots, but failed Then I tried putting it back to the same spot it was in my driveway, but I kinda forget where the bike was, so I'll take some new ones. Sorry guys, please be patient, I have to go switch out bulbs.

tinting all the bulb blue usually reduces light output, but makes it appear whiter.

I use Philips Xtreme Power. They supposedly make 80% more light than Philips standard bulb and are again at the same wattage (50/55W)

Osram also has a 90% globe but I forget its name atm.

Ibrought out my tripod to keep the camera in the same spot for both shots, and left the handle bars in the same spot when switching bulbs and aken both pics.

Next time I'll try the Phillip ones or spend $250 for the HID kit, but for now I'm happy with what I got :thumb:

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

When I got my philips xtreme bulbs I tried to photograph the difference in light output but it just didn't show up.

But there definitely was a huge improvement.

As I do alot of night riding, I rate it as the 2nd best upgrade I have done behind upgrading the front springs.
