So I finaly got my K&N lunchbox my breather filter and was going to mount them. But then I realise there is something more than like the wiki




"This filter, K&N RU-2970, replaces both the drop in filter and the stock airbox. A brather filter, as shown in the picture, is recommended (but not really required due to factory steel mesh 'sponge' already under the breather cover) for the valve cover. This breather filter can either be a PVC filter valve (available at your local hardware store) or a breather valve like the one shown in the picture (available at your local auto parts store). The cheapest solution is a piece of shop towel covering the breather outlet to reject larger elements (sand, dust, etc). Keep in mind that the breather outlet is outbound, i.e. the combustion gases that get past the rings try to escape the engine case. BTW, that is the reason the breather hose in stock configuration is connected to the airbox -- to suck those gases out and back into the carbs to burn."

one side go to the engine and the other to the airbox  :cookoo: I guess it has something to do with antipollution stuff. Anyway, should I also add a brather filter ?

I have searched on the forum and no one who mounted a lunchbox talked about it.

Search for "breather lunchbox filter" or something like that.  You can buy a cheap filter like the one in the picture from an auto parts store or you can stick it into the rubber part of the lunchbox.  Someone posted a picture of it but I can't seem to find it.

i asked that same question about that same hose earlier in the week.. still no answer.. what is that thing it's attached to bolted to the frame?

Well I'm gonna put a filter personally. Altough, are you able to ride without it? Could I ride for like a few days whitout the filter?

I dunno about that 2nd gen or CA stuff, so I can't answer your question drunkmonkey.

But I think it would be safe to ride without the filter for a little bit.  It's not normally going to be sucking stuff in anyway...maybe just tie a cloth around it until you get a filter.

that thing in the picture is the PAIR valve, Pulsed Air Injection R(somthin) valve. It is an emissions control device used to put fresh air in to the exhaust to help burn unused fuel. It is removable (I removed mine when I put V&H headers on) and has no adverse affects when removed as long as all the hoses going to it are fully sealed. took me ~10 min and made my exhaust sound better while losing weight.
