I picked up an electric guitar today. I played music up to high school.  Alto Sax in middle school band, picked up some guitar, drums, and then that all sort of stopped. It's been about 5 years since that and I'm trying to get back in the groove. My hands are not liking relearning guitar chords. Anybody here play any instruments?

Guitar and bass these days.

Had a piano for a few years. Just for self entertainment and dabbling. Sold now but wouldn't mind another one. Maybe some kind of digital piano this time. Nowhere in the league of this kid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llz-n9MDhwM and - of course - Jools Holland just freaking rocks man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZNsvJQtfqU

Can't find my harmonica. Figured a kind of Tab Notation for harmonica tunes decades ago, for transcribing them myself. But it's been so long now I might as well have never played. And I can't remember how the notation was. Just remember playing a few tunes by it.

I learned playing piano since I was 6 or 7 years old - total 8 years of studying.  Last class about 22 years ago.  I still play a bit - for personal amusement mostly.  Back in the 70's and 80's we had a 1900 Offenbacher piano, which my great-granddad managed to get out from Germany in 1945 when returning to Ukraine from the war.  Had to leave it in Ukraine when moved to the States in 1992.  I don't think I'll ever hear a sound like that again.  But a coulpe of years ago I picked up one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002AH56P0/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000I1QWEE&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=00AX7RJ32HBC15DQEH66 - it's pretty good, I must say.

I learned to play guitar by myself good 25 years ago - and still play a bit, again, mostly for my own or close friends' amusement.  I own a classical one (cheapo from a second-hand shop) and a 12-string Fender that's got a real nice sound to it.

Wow that kid is amazing. Had to watch some of his other videos and they are all excellent. I know what you mean Yamahon, its frustrating to know it used to be so much easier and now its a struggle. I messed around with piano way back, as a means to entertain myself. My parents tried to put me through some lessons and I didn't like it at all. I think at that age I was more interested in running around being a kid rather than sitting in front of a piano with some boring teacher...Come to think of it, I think I never grew out of that lol. It just goes to show that with any skill you gotta use em or lose them.

Well, being a high school music teacher, I play a couple of instruments.  Violin is my main instrument, but I can play viola, cello, some bass, guitar, and trumpet with some proficiency.
Something is wrong with my twin...all of a sudden it's V shaped!  Wait, no, now it's a triple!  ...and I IZ NOT a postwhore!

Been toying with guitars for about 15 years,
Crafter CTS150-12/N 12string semi acoustic.6 string acoustic and a Nevada resonator.
I personaly don`t think the 12 string is any harder to play (rhythm) very tedious to tune compared to a 6 string though.

Bah, you've not heard piano 'til you've heard Katsaris doing a Rachmaninov piano concerto.

I'm going to start looking for a small amp. The way I've got it setup with the computer is way too much hassle. I've got the output of the guitar feeding into the line-in jack of my computer, running some modeling software, and then output to desktop speakers though a USB dongle (for some reason the software won't output sound through the on-board audio). When I want to play back a song I've got to switch around the cables, change audio settings etc.

I'll miss the software though, so many effects and its all customizable. I want to be able to listen to a short clip, and then attempt to play it right away while its fresh. Currently it takes too much time and is a distraction to switch the cables back and get the software running again.
