Oil change and chain clean/lube  :)
I know the owner and have known the bike from near new, no need to do anything.  Seriously aside from usual knocks and scrapes, the bike is in excellent condition, serviced on time and virtually detailed after any ride that got it dirty (you should see the drivetrain).  Like me, he often uses a toothbrush to clean the bike.

Belly pan fitted. Had to remove the factory engine guards and fit some sliders (thanks slips) as the pan would not fit otherwise.

Oh yeah I fitted these while I was wrenching

Looks great Coda!

I've seen the taillight online, but I had trouble envisioning what it would actually look like on the GS. Can't recall, though, is that LED or incandescent? Does it still retain the running light function?
It seems it has become necessary to qualify my posts:
I am/am not trying to start an argument. This post is/is not intended to be a personal attack. I am/am not merely attempting to present a different viewpoint.

Select the words that apply to you.

Heard a grinding noise when I applied the rear brake, so I ordered some new pads and last night when I swapped out the pads I discovered the old pads had ZERO material left on them.  The rotor isn't scored more than usual so it doesn't need to be replaced.  Guess I'd better check what's left of the front pads.
Ride to live; live to ride.

Its LED and works as a normal tail light should. It also has integrated blinkers. :thumb:

Oil and Filter change in preperation for my 350 mile (570 km) ride to the Illinios-Wisconsin boder tomorrow.  Surprisingly after 2500 miles, the oil was very clean.  I guess that means the engine is in good shape.  Used Chvron Delo 400 15W40 oil.  Cheap and works well.  They couldn't give it away at Wal-Mart.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

Haha. No.

Is it not an R1 taillight?  Because it sure looks like one..

Either way, looks nice.   :thumb:

Yes it is an R1 tail light and no it is not upside down (it only fits one way) and it is different years to the one in the pic you have there.
They must have rotated them around the 2000 model?

Formori

I rode her to work this morning (like every day) and when I get off work I'll be bathing her and shining her up, maybe cleaning the chain and trying out a new chain wax!

Maybe I'll pull apart my new mirrors and change out the LED's with high powered ones and make them more noticable, hmmm...

Interesting.  Never seen one mounted that way.  Even the write-up shows the same style I have (Mine is off of a 2001).  You have to shim the bottom a bit for it to fit flush, but it's mounted with the clear side down (as tag lights), and shows the same as my picture.

Oh well, looks nice.   :thumb:

Finished the preparations for dropping the engine. Unplugged a bunch of stuff, took the exhaust off, drained the oil, supported the engine, and loosened all the bolts. The process is going smoothly, but I will say I'm glad I made the purchase on the spare engine. The oil that I drained out is very sparkly. :icon_eek:

Not all today, but ordered:

A new chain (EK X-Ring)
New JT sprockets (stock, 16t/43t)
OEM Oil Filter & Gasket
5qts OEM Oil
Shinko SR741 Rear tire

Sadly the bike is parked until I get the new tire on.

Should have everything on by Wednesday!

Pics of the new beast that graces my garage.  Its a 2004 Suzuki Bandit GSF1200S, 58,000kms on the dial, all pretty much from the previous owner, a work colleague.  That's after I just came back form a ride through to Dayboro and back.  Rides very nicely, very different to my GS500, but then I would expect that.  Only change I'll make from here is add my personalised plate when it turns up (next week hopefully) and Oxford soft panniers to replace the Givi boxes (racks that I just removed) for when wife and I go away for O/N rides.

I sold Trey....   to NorthwestRider here on the board who also lives near me.

Tomorrow we will put stock pegs back on for his wife (it is her bike) and stock handle bars.
