Bite me Patrick :icon_lol:
Took the GSXR down the hwy to see how fast she goes and lets just say she sits on the speed limit nicely. lol
I am sure she would go as fast if not faster than 170kms if I was so inclined to go there :icon_razz:
I am very happy with my little 400cc. She shits all over the GS as far as power and speed goes. I will have to wait for the weekend to see how she likes the twisties.

400 cc what?.. I mean ... Do you have a moped too?!

About 3 weeks ago now I laid my '90 500 down.  This was done because I rushed a tested ride after installing my suspension upgrades (SV650 Shock, .90 springs, 15W oil).  I wasn't entirely focused and down I went.  I have ridden 10,000 miles this year and was convinced everyone was full of it when they said, "its just a matter of when you're going to go down".

Anyway, on to what I did to the bike.  For the last few weeks I have mostly been ignoring it (one of the blessing/curses of having other bikes to ride).  Yesterday I decided to figure out what was wrong with it.  I could hear when riding it up and down my street that there was a definite rubbing noise coming from the front end.  There are no marks on the axle nut, caliper, rotor, forks, etc.  So I put the bike up on the center stand and propped the front wheel up in the air.  My first thought was a twist in the fork clamps.  I loosened the fork clamps, straightened the wheel centerline with the fender centerline.  Still rubbing.  Next I took the caliper off, spun the wheel, rotates exactly how you'd expect.  Bearings are fine.  put caliper back on, grinding noise resumes.  Pull caliper back off and look at the back side:  The two center bolt holes for mounting on the slider are obviously scratched.  Look more closely at the rotor and the "rivets" (not sure what you'd call them) holding the hub to the brake surface are also scratched!  Ah-Hah!  I have found the culprit.

At this point I could just grind those bolt locations down a little to create clearance, but the bike wasn't making this noise before it went down, so thats a half-hearted fix.  So, the next step I loosened the fork brace and then loosened the axle pinch bolt.  The slider immediately slid out, away from the wheel!  Again, culprit found.  Spin the wheel: No grinding.  I pushed the slider back to the location where it appeared it was originally (where the axle transitioned from dirty to clean) and tightened it back down.  Still no noise!

The last step involved mildly bending the bars back out.  They were pushed in on the low side about 1/8".  I put a 6ft x 1" diameter pipe on the handlebar end and managed to yank it back to symmetrical.

The bike is now back in running condition, although a little worse for wear.  There is a dent on the right tank side from the handle bar.  Its about 1/8" deep by 1.5" in diameter.  I think with some patience it can be Bondo-ed and repainted.  But all in all, i'm happy to have the bike back to being servicable.

Don't knock it, my brother develops racing engines and can get 200 horsies from a 300cc snow machine engine..
All that power and the motor with turbo actually fit in a carry-on bag. 400cc can go a long way..
Follow the path of least acceptance!

Just put in my .90 Sonic Springs. Did it the lazy way, as I'm going to have the fork seals replaced before too long and they can do the oil and stuff. Feels great, a lot more planted and definitely smooths the bike out overall with the Katana rear shock. Going around the single sweeper in my neighborhood was a lot better and the bike didn't feel like it was on the edge.
Bike: 1990 GS500E (Vance & Hines full system, K&N Lunchbox, BM Clubmaster bars, Katana rear shock, 0.90 Sonic Springs), 2000 ZRX1100 (Kerker slip-on)
Location: Virginia

Topped of her fuel tank and poured in some fuel stabilizer, since it's unlikely that I'll get much riding in for a while. Also acquired a Honda Motocompo; neatest little bike I've seen in a long time. Started buying/researching parts for winter wrenching on Taarna - stainless brake lines, suspension, etc.

Even though it doesn't get real cold here, anything we don't use over the winter like mowers or any other yard/lawn equipment still gets started and let run for a while each month. No such thing as winterizing equipment for us.

I wish it was like that here. In next few months we will hit -30c, not including the windchill

Went for a ride. A bit of rain, a bit of drizzle, sun, clouds, bugger all traffic. A good time was had by all.  :woohoo:

Took them all for a ride, one at a time of course.  GS500 for an early morning ride, then the Bandit for a spirited lunchtime group ride, then the Intruder for a cruisy arvo ride.  It was a great day for riding in Brisbane.

Beemersworld

Put some new Smoke colored LED Turn signals on the front,  I think it looks much cleaner,  I cut down  the OEM Signal "stalk" and drilled the hole bigger for the flush mount LEDs.
