I saw this as an annual poll on another board, lets see how the GS riders compare.

I'll be first:

Someone backed into my bike when it was parked outside my apartment and knocked it over.
Someone also kicked my bike over when it was parked outside my fraternity house during a party.
I knocked it over once while changing the oil, I caught it before it hit the deck, knocked over my oil pan however and made a mess.

I care because its my bike, but not too much because its 21 years old and is pretty beat up anyway.

I bumped a car at about 5mph, then fell over.  Would that be a crash or a 5mph drop?
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

I stalled at a stoplight going up a really steep hill on the way to Tilden Park.  When it started rolling backward and leaning, I didn't have the leverage to keep it up.  Snapped the front brake lever off and had to wait an hour for a tow (it was a pay parking lot and I wasn't sure how long it'd take to get a new lever).  At least the view was nice! ^-^

Shaddow

My bike fell over parked in the driveway while I was over 10 metres away and fell into my car, does that count?

Yup...I think I posted a thread back in June or July with pics...tried to pull a 180 on gravel with bald street tires...didn't go well...ended up pulling a 270 and getting high sided...oops...was only going 2mph or so...not hurt, but felt like an idiot...atleast dirt is soft and the bike didn't get hurt...

Later.

Crashed twice.  Both are posted in this forum.  Not a good year.

First year with my GS and crashed it twice.. First crash was in tight corner, too much speed, target fixation, panic, brake, and dropped into a ditch. Not much damage though. Second was with brand new rear tyre slipped out in the first junction.

It's kind of cool how little damage the bike took and I didn't take any. Hope I learned something and wouldn't crash next year.

Had a nice fast crash last year, so far this year it just fell over a few times when parked on loose ground. My front brake lever snapped one time in France, so I superglued it back and rode about 500 miles when it snapped again.. thankfully it happened in a parking lot. I had to ride almost a day through the Alpes, some 2000m mountain passes without front brake until I found a dealership. The most fun I've ever had! :D

The Buddha

Well got rear ended in june on a savage with a tiny rear fender and no back seat ... as in ... I got rear ended more than the bike ... sorta.
Cool.

Does getting hit from behind count? So more like the guy crashed into me, but i guess it sort of counts.

I took the MSF course in March and bought my first GS (with gunked up carbs) the same month. Before I took the carbs apart, knowning very little about how to ride a bike, I had a low speed crash in my apartment parking lot and permanently scarred up my right arm. Awesome road rash scar. It's a great convo starter! I just have to embellish the story a bit.... :)

Ride safe my friends, crashing doesn't need to be part of motorcycle riding.

Dropped it at a stop sign, turning right.  I stalled it from a stop (engine was cold but still my fault), it leaned right, leaned a little further, still moving forward just barely, heard something smack the pavement (don't know what because i was still looking where i wanted to go, msf style), yanked it back up straight and pretended the cars around me knew i MeAnT to do that.  Continued on my ride.

Being a rookie has it's advantages though:  it was a $1400 gs, not a $14,000 dream bike.  Plus it is light enough to pick it back up quickly.
I keep forgetting to turn the petcock on before i bolt down gas tank. :(

nope, I dropped my 250 Ninja once last year, it was a solid-paved-gravel parking lot turn around that turned to loose-gravel without looking any different. I think I was going a whopping 5 mph.

I hope to not do any more crashing in the future, but I bought a full set of sliders for my Ducati just in case. Much more expensive to fix

Bluesmudge

None this year, thank-goodness. The year before I managed to have 2 serious crashes

Just last Thursday I did. I was on my way to my last final for school, I started changing lanes. The driver in front of me started changing lanes then put on his signal light, I hit the brakes because he was about to hit me. My back tire locked up and fishtailed to the left. I started steering to the left THEN he saw me and swerved to the left. I almost hit him again so I applied more to the front brake. I got really close to his car, then the next thing I remember is laying on the ground in the middle of the street. Someone told me that the ambulance is on its way. Then I remember being in the ambulance and they asked me a few questions. Then I wake up in the hospital. That morning I worked from midnight to 9am so I was in a rush and (this is the part I hate) didn't wear my jacket or gloves. Just my helmet.

I have a few scrapes to remind me to wear my gear ALL the time and I suffered from a concussion. I'm not allowed to work till Wednesday and the bike has some parts on it's way.

Upper fairing, front panel, right side lower fairing, right side mirror, the handlebar, the front brake master cylinder cover, the right side bar end, right side passenger foot peg, the contact breaker cover and emblem need to be replaced.

I don't know how long I was laying there in the middle of the street, but I'm glad I didn't get ran over.

Wow...that's actually a scary one...be careful man...you only get to play this game once...hopefully you're okay, and only have scrapes and bruises to remind you to wear your gear...being tired after work and in a hurry to make a deadline isn't too helpful either...being tired is like being impaired, your judgement may not be impaired but your reaction time is...

Ride safe...
