Any good saddle bag options?

I will be needing some nice looking soft touring bags. One saddlebag type and one tailbag type. I was thinking about DOWCO and Cortech. Anyone have any opinions on these?

after riding with some adv and ds guys, I won't buy saddle bags again.

next it will be a giantloop bag. less wasted space, more stability and waterproof.

there are other options, but the single, large bag works great. check out the reviews if you like.

I bought the nelson rig bags like Goofy has and I really like them. I don't load them down like she does but it's nice to know they can take it. I bought mine from another forum member here but even at the new price they would be worth the money.

Here I was thinking about getting the cortech sport saddle bags but tourmaster says 10lbs. per bag max. I might have to look elsewhere...

I've got the Cortech Sports. They're great, but you'll find they're oddly shaped for certain items (like an Xbox

). That's a no-go on a full-sized laptop too. However, they're great for clothes, groceries, and other smaller items. They come with waterproof covers, and are easy peasy to take on and off from the bike.
I wouldn't be too worried about stuffing too much weight in them though, if you've got a bit of common sense. They've been pretty sturdy so far.

None of the Giant Loop are waterproof. If you plan to ride in the rain with it for more than a few minutes put your stuff in trash bags or dry bags.

I just ordered the FirstGear Onyx Expandable Saddlebags, should be here in a few days.

I will post some pictures after I get them mounted. I chose these over some of the others because these zip open on 3 sides, instead of just through a slit at the top. Its hard to load & access the kind that only open through a little slit.

Got mine there for $70. The tip with the saddle bags is to load them evenly. The Nelson Riggs also have rain covers. When I got sick in January and had to leave my bike at school in the rain for a couple of days I had left a psych text book in there and it was dry as a bone. I would have been very upset if a $200 had gotten ruined that way!

Interesting! They look like suitcases, with those handles. They'd, also, be great for touring with motel stops. That website has lots of cool gear for biking! I'd be interested to see the pics of them on your bike. The price is reasonable.

Mary I'm not sure who you were responding to? I did order mine Onyx set from New Enough/Motorcycle gear, they were $110.

Hey, Zirconx. Any photos of the Onyx bags after installation? I'm probably going to buy some this weekend, but would like to see what they look like on the bike first.
