The MZ skorpion is what a GS 500 dreams of being ...

Dry sump, water cooled 5valve yamaha 660 single motor makes 48hp and 40 ft-lb torque and not breaking 320lb drpping wet, 41mm forks standard, 150 rear tire standard, rear wheel hugger standard, plastic fuel tank standard, full fairing in boxes, I have turned it into a naked but a few hours will turn it back to a fairinged bike, I rode it today and it handles better than a GS and revs up quicker and steers quicker if you can believe that and the suspension and brakes will wipe the floor with a GS.
This one has a supertrapp stainless pipe and no rust anywhere.

With a Kat FE, Kat shock GS doesn't behave this well and it certainly doesn't make the power nor look as good.

Excellent for beginers, excellent for anyone who wants a bit more distinct bike than a GS, and what can I say, its german and you can turn it into a full fairing bike when you're done learning or well, when you feel like it.

The 660 yamaha motor was the same that went in the raptor ATV and the thing makes tons of power and has a huge mod package to pick from cos they race those as well as the MZ's and the Baghira's both on and off road.

Pics comming, but its headlight which will be a GS item likely is still being fitted and perfected.
Clean NC Title in my name and bike is in charlotte NC. Its registered and legit to be ridden away.

Headlight - we dont need no steenkin headlight.

OK GS headlight isn't big enough to take all its electrical crap ...

So I need a headlight the size of the rose bowl.
So where can I get one ... OK somehting like a 10" would work just about in a pinch.

Buddha, I don't know if it will help but check out www.roccitycafe.com. He makes a fiberglass bucket that is deeper than "standard" and takes a 7" light.

That's what I bought for my GR and have the wiring, glass, and half the speedo inside.
83 GR650 (riding / rolling project)

It's opener there in the wide open air...

That 7" is probably never going to look right on the bike. 10"+ would look good. The search is on though ... acerbis makes some interesting stuff ...

I've never heard of MZ, who makes them? Also, while I'm sure it's mechanically sound, that is one ugly looking mother.

MZ is german, Its mechanically a XTZ660, raptor, rhino yamaha motor in a very GS like frame.
Ugly - not unless you thought a GS both the naked and the fairing ones were ugly ... in silhouette they are identical.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~kawazr7/motor/muzskor2/ <- That is the 1/2 fairing version.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~kawazr7/motor/replica/ <- Full fairing version identical to mine, right down to the color.

The lovely naked - http://motors-bay.com/img/Muz/muz007.jpg <- Man that headlight ... damn I have to find one like it.

That bike part for part is what a GS owner upgrades to if they are blessed with limitless resources and are target fixated on a GS. On the 41mm Paoili forks and the grimeca brakes that bike just feels like it will soak up everything. The rear shock also feels really like a ... well a shock. Most of the bits are easy to get to and you dont get a 1000 cuts on your hands from trying to remove the tank and taking off the carbs. I've not run it any more than up/down the street cos well ... no headlight ... grrr ...

I'm referring to the half fairing version when I say ugly, it looks all spindly up at the top of the forks, right at the steering head. That fairing does not look like it belongs, it's too big.

That bike is rather skinny cos its motor is narrower than the GS, like waaaaaay narrower. Even the radiator is small so are the fans ...

The rear tar is wider and man that body work literally looks too big in pics, in person it looks less weird if its on the bike, but outside it looks awfully huge ... you go like ... man that tail section looks bigger than the bike.

Once assembled and once you realise a few things about the bike it looks nothign but perfect ... the tank has to be the way it is, cos its not metal, its plastic, cant have crap pockets and grommet ears ... y'know stuff like that.

Gotcha. Well I don't really have the scratch for another bike, but thanks for showing, best of luck finding a buyer.

Yea 1/2 the bike gotta come apart again ... I got 20 ft of CF sheet that stuff is getting plastered on the bike.

My welder said we can make a aluminum hanger of sorts to hold a twin headlight which will hang off the dash, and have the ears hold the ends up ... I suspect that will look like trash ... so I may have to do something else. Besides this bike was made for a 1 ft dia round monster of a headlight. 2 round ones will totally fry my eyes ... Pity no one makes a 12" headlight.

To top that off I had a suspected head gasket leak, which turned out to be less and less likely the deeper and deeper I got into pulling it apart, so now I am thinking I'll just adjust the valves and clean up the valve cover in a parts washer and slap it back ...

BTW these germans they made a bolt with a 1/2 way shaved head so you dont need a wrench to hold the top bolt to remove the top motor mount nuts, it sorta fits tight into a depression in the valve cover which holds it in place ... and they made a valve cover bolt that would hit the frame when you unscrewed it and pulled it up ...  :cookoo: ... duh dude ... you cant be both thoughtful designers and clueless clowns at the same time. Decide which one you want to be and I'll compensate.

Reminds me of whoever designed the routing for the yoshi pipes for the GS, when I got mine I was astonished to find out that I needed to remove the whole exhaust to get to the oil drain plug.

Well that's cos they didn't design one for the GS, they had one lying about from god knows what project from when and they figured they could fit it on a GS. The whole reason they make header pipes wihtout that connector piece in the top near the head ... they claim it is for better flow and to reduce the cross planisation when you have 2 cyls affecting the back pressure under the power cycles of the power band when its synchronised ... yea that or whatever garbage ... is so that they can use the same header pipe for all 2 cyl bikes. Pul lit apart a bit, or push it together a wee bit and viola ... it fits all 2 cyls ... sorta.

We need to stop swallowing whatever marketing crap they feed us. Its right on the lines of "doomsday is comming may 21st, so give me all your $ so you can have rapture"

Valentino rossi uses yoshimura cos yoshimura pays him 3mil a yr. He uses honda cos they pay him 30mil a yr, and he makes them build parts by hand to fit the bike he is going to ride @ this track today. Next track all over again, all new - or well, close enough. Yosh and honda and everyone else sells you whatever they find in their trash can (or close enough equivalent) but putting a pic of Rossi on it and tell you you can also be rossi if you buy this shiny POS doohickey. If you want to find stuff that fits your bike, guess what, it is likely already bolted to your bike now. If it should fit better ... well you take it off and modify what you dont like and leave alone what you do like.
