I want to change the oil on my 06 GS500. Can someone tell me how many quarts it uses. Thanks for the help.

This is just off the top of my head, so it could be wrong.

2600 ml without changing the filter, or about 2900 ml with changing the filter. So, about 3 quarts.
The oil volume is etched into the engine right near the dipstick. 1 liter (1000 ml) is roughly equal to 1 quart.

be sure to insert the new oil filter in the right direction. Keeps you from changing the oil twice!

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

For your future reference, a lot of motorcycles will have something like "3L" or "2900mL" stamped into the engine case right next to the oil cap...or somewhere near it. This is usually the amount of oil you add after changing the oil and filter.

It's in the owner's manual... 2600mil (2.7 qt) without filter change, 2900mil (3.1 qt) with filter change.

Get owners manual from the wiki here http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Maintenance.Books

Im not even sure how one could install the oil filter incorrectly.  I just changed it yesterday and it seemed pretty logical.  Rode for 3 hours today and the bike didnt blow up so I guess I did it right.

:thumb: Pretty good indication of a job well-done.

Was my very first oil change on my very first bike. Filter fits in both directions.
I noticed as soon as the red light wouldn't go out.
