Tire is the 006, and it has a better track record than the race tires. Their known for being slicker than snot.

Size is 120/70/17 and 140/70/17

How much clearance did you have with the 140/70s?  I'm having a hell of a time finding that size.  140/60s yes, 140/70s no.  I'm interested in going up to a 150/60, but I don't know that I have anyway to bend the brake torque rod, so I'm hoping that maybe they'll clear it with very little modification..
i have a 140 80 and it clears, barely lol

My 140/70 Clears just fine...

How much clearance do you have?

Do you think a 150/60 would fit, since I can't find a 140/70 anywhere?

I just bought 120/70 and 140/70 BT45's from Bike Bandit for less then $200.00 shipped.
Got them put on last Sunday but have not hada chance to ride them yet.

You guys are mixing up bias/radial types and 70/60 profiles so fast I'm having a hard time following.  :icon_lol:  The 006 tires come in both 120/70 and 120/60 front sizes but the rears are 140/60 and 150/60 sizes only, not 140/70 or 150/70.

Both bias and radial sport touring tires in general come in the 150/70 and 140/70 sizes but the sport/supersport radials come only in the 150/60 size in genaral with only a couple of 140/60 like the 006 available.

All the 150/70 and 150/60 tires are theoretically 150 mm wide but in practice they vary a bit between brands and models.  I ran a 150/70 bias Lasertec for 10k miles without bending the brake torque bar and then had to bend it a bit so it wouldn't rub on a 150/70 radial RoadAttack tire and both of those tires were the same width according to the manufacturers specs, it's that close to rubbing or to not rubbing.

I was avoiding bending the brake torque brace myself for a while but it turned out to be quite simple.  I just took it off and layed it across a piece of 2x4 and hit it right on the spot where it rubbed the tire with a BFH and it bent a bit as it flattened a bit and fit nicely with plenty of clearance for any 150 after that.  I saw no need to heat it to bend it for a 150 tire.

That would explain why I couldn't find one in 140/70.  150/60 it is.   :thumb:  Thanks!

I just revised my first post on the previous page concerning use of 150/60 sport/supersport radials on the GS 3.5" rim, I added a yet to it.  :thumb:

I see my local supplier is selling the new Shinko 010 Apex radial now and it's only $10 more than the 006 in the 150/60 size.   Same intermediate compound as the 006 but updated in appearance as well as construction.  I'm tempted to try it.
