Hey all...

I'm winterizing and I've got a quick question here... there are lots of battery trickle chargers out there to choose from.  What type of amperage is recommended?  they seem to go from 1/2 amp to 1.5 amp... what's the difference?  any recommendations?

thanks

I've never used a trickle charger....I have a 4-amp (more than enough) charger, and charge my batteries once a month, for 4-5 hours each.  Never had a problem doing this.  However, if you like the idea of a trickle charger, I believe I read in another post that 1/2 amp is enough.  If it is rated for a 12V battery, it will work.

I have a 1.5 amp trickle charger i got for $15. Works great, shuts off unless needed. If you need a charged battery in a hurry, get something more powerful.  ;)

My Battery Tender is the best 20 bucks I've spent for my bike's health.  Hook the Tender to your battery, plug into wall, and forget about it until the weather lets you ride.  Any similar trickle charger should work.  As long as the charger can turn itself on when voltage drops and back off when voltage reaches normal levels.

Where did you find one for $15? The ones I was looking at are at least twice as much. I have the "mighty" one, but I'd like to get the "connect and forget" one too.
