Here she is now...

And with some photoshop magic....

Basically took the stock 89 white stripe scheme and changed it to black and red. I'd put a black "GS500" Sticker on the tail like in that stock scheme too. And red reflective wheel stripes. But I feel like the white fender is just too much. Ideas for what to do on that?

And yes I've replaced that cover already. :P Thank you adidas

Try black front fender.
I have seen some 2-tone. White in front of the forks, black on the back end. (though I'm not fond of that).

I'll play with some more things after class

Where's the mud flap?

White with stripes looks cool.

The black is OK, but the silver forks seem out of place. Try black fork tubes. You could put black gators on the forks, too, and  hide the chrome. Member "nonfiction" did that last fall at the Cave. Gives it that adventure/touring look.

I liked the white. Any other colour looks out of place to me :dunno_black:
I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

I took this picture the first day I got the bike. None of the stuff we've done to it so far are on there. I did pick up all the bondo and stuff I need in order to fix up the tank. Probably do that Saturday, start getting the white on during the week. Do the front fork brace and mudflap when I take the fender off.

I like the idea of black gators. I've been watching that adventure thread in the build section. Waiting to see what that looks like with them on.

I found a rattle can of the original Pearl White used in 1989. Well, not an old can... a new can I got from Colorrite. You can see if you like it.

jmill

I'm not too concerned about having the original white. Just needs to be a nice clean white. I rather like this white he's done http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58809.20

Also keep in mind I have that Givi a750 fairing on the way. Paint that white, and the windscreen is already black...

And I'm painting the luggage lid white to match and adding more reflective red piping to it. Same with whatever kind of panniers I end up with. I really love the way mabrio's bike looks

But his engine is black, so he has a lot more black on the bike than I do. Maybe just keep the panniers solid black? Mine would most likely be side loaders, not top loaders. Put the stock black GS500 stickers that usually go on the tail plastics on the side with a matching black stripe? Fir some red accents in there somewhere...So much fun to be had!

I got these in my stash. They might work for you?

Bluesmudge

I like the white fender with the black and red stripe.

jmill

I like those adidasguy. I was just going to go with some of these and then make a break in the upper stripe similar to what is done in the stock sticker scheme. We'll have a look at those once the paint is done though...

I vote for stripes on the fender as well.  Though I'd probably carry them from the front across it entirely to the rear.
If you can't be a good example, at least try to be a horrible reminder.

From where in the front? I'd like to bring them down off the tank somehow, but I can't figure out how to make it look good. They're all relatively parallel right now.
