Can anyone tell me if Suzuki is still selling the GS500F in other country's?  If they are what country's are they selling it in?  I still think it is one of the best motorcycles they ever built.  Thanks for your help.  Ride safe my friends.

Australia and Canada were selling them after the 2009 model year since there is a 2010 version.

Beyond that, try going to Global Suzuki.  The GS500 was still listed as of the last time I checked (a month ago), but I cannot confirm the model years past 2010.

I **think** that Mister from Australia said that there was a 2012 model year that was sold in Australia.  Don't quote me on that.

Maybe in countries that dont have strict emission legislations in place.....which rules out most of the developed world  :dunno_black:

Suzuki CA currently shows blue and white 2010 (white on top) and 2009 (blue on top) GS500F available but doesn't list any GS500 (naked) as available.  Suzuki AU shows both GS500F (white on top) and GS500 (black) available but doesn't seem to indicate what year they are.  Global Suzuki shows the 2 models available in Australia but also doesn't indicate the year.  No indication any models newer than 2010 are available anywhere.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Last year, I heard from a Suzuki rep that the reason why Suzuki didn't sell the GS500 any more (at least for now) is a combination of several things:

Glut in inventory
Economy downturn
Emissions

I hope it comes back.  Kawasaki re-vamped the little Ninja 250 into the Ninja 300, which is now fuel injected.

The US site isn't showing any SV650 models now but they do show the new 2013 SFV650 which has dropped the Gladius name from the site except in the site url.  :icon_lol:  Reviews elsewhere all call it just the new 2013 SFV650.  Looks better now, I like nakeds.

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Yeah GS brand new for 5k on road in Australia
I wish they'd stop doing that, its driving down the 2nd hand market.  Heard recently of a guy on the Bandit forums who traded in the SV650 he had for a new Bandit.  The dealer was really pissed as they had just traded in two Bandits which cost more than the new Bandit price after factory rebates.  Recently made enquiries about another big tourer bike, $25,000RRP, drive away for $17,500. :icon_eek:  You'd have to be really annoyed if you paid full price.

GS500 - $7200 with $1500 of gear, $6200 without
GS500F - $7700 with $1500 of gear, $6700 without
Mind you, this is in the middle of BF-nowhere, so I expect higher prices.

Stickered prices, on the floor. The dealer I work with is brilliant, we're always bringing people into them to get bikes and gear. We're working on getting the Yamaha/Hyosung dealer in town shutdown as they said to me (and I quote as well as I can without infringing on any profanity filters) "You're just a pee pee sucking homosexual, go no-where ladyparts (Starts with C, work with me here.) We'll charge for what we want, when we want, and you f&@*@r's (Sorry, couldn't think of another work for there) will just pay it. You're the customer. You don't know shaZam! about anything we do." This was after them attempting to charge me $970 for warranty work on my Hyosung GV250 I'd bought from them 3 months prior. ECU went, very little power, top speed of 30 kpm. Just another reason I went to a Suzuki so I could deal with a bunch of great guys.

Always pays to ask about prices. When I bought my wife a Ninja 250R, sticker price was $8000 with Two Brothers pipe. Got it for $6700 with a jacket and gloves thrown in. All I gotta do is sell 2 more bikes for them and I get a half price bike of my choice.

The 2012 GS500s being sold in Australia are 2010 colored bikes with 2012 compliance plates on them - just as the 2011 complianced bikes were also 2010 colors.

As we are still getting them New, I and some others are keeping our eyes open for a color change. So far, no color change from the 2010 colors. Thaty tells us it was made in 2010 and has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting to requisitioned down here. Upon arrival in the country or prior to departure, the compliance plate it put on with a younger date than 2010.

Suzuki Australia are very coy about it only saying, they just sell what is shipped and don't know what Suzuki Japan has decided on the model's life span.

It's not looking good for any more being made if we are still getting 2010 colors and it is nearly 2013. And what with the bike not making emissions standards in Europe, Spain closing over 50% of its motorcycle manufacturing plants, and the bike's technology Really being old hat now, I don't think the GS500 has much time left in its production run life span. Still a 21 year production run with 23 years of sales is nothing to be sneezed at.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it I guess is the motto here. Same reason they've kept the same engine config for the last 20 years, it worked, worked really well. Bulletproof, in fact.

I reckon with some TLC, Fuel Injection, and a couple of cosmetic updates, it could be the little bike that could again.
