youre close jas it IS used by people. but it cannot be used by itself. before people start giving up and moving on, ill put one final clue on there. a shoe is often used along with this.

Some clues - you find one of these in a radio, just a lot smaller - this unit is about 12m high, 3m in diameter and mounted on nice seismic restraints (the shock absorber is part of the seismic system)
