Thanks officer. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to pull me over and issue me a f%$king ticket because the window tinting on my car is 5% lower than allowed by law. And, on top of it, again, I must thank you for being such a f%$king prick to me.

I don't have a problem with cops, and I don't have a problem with laws. The only problem I have is A) I just bought the f%$king car and I didn't even know it was too low. Yeah, yeah, I know, it should've been checked but it was obviously so f%$king close I had nothing to alert me to a problem; and B) If you're giving me a ticket, and I REALLY haven't done anything WRONG or offended you as a person...WHY THE f%$k BE AN @$$hole TO ME? Seriously.

Yep some cops can be a little tough for no reason. Makes you want to punch the fuckers in the face sometimes.

Lol what?

I'm f%$king pissed because I'm going to have to go to court over this. It's not like it was some absurdly dark tint or anything.

Not only that, now I have to remove it which is going to be a pain in the ass.

All because some stick-up-his-ass cop had nothing better to do than hound me. Because obviously the most important thing going on was the 5% lower tint on my windows.

ThatOtherGuy

why are you fighting it in court?  technically you were breaking the law and caveat emptor applies unless the car passed a roadworthy and you can argue you were driving under the factual knowledge that the car was roadworthy based on the recent purchase.

Different laws in the States TOG!!

ThatOtherGuy

yeah I know, how does that saying go again?

Kijona

There's no inspection. There's no regulation.

That's like getting a ticket for going 3mph over the speed limit because your speedometer is 3mph off. It's f%$king absurd.

ThatOtherGuy

in Australia if you are speeding and your speedo has an error in it and you are doing the speed limit according to the speedometer and you truly did not know there was an error, you can contest the fine and have a good chance of having it quashed.  its under the "error in fact" allowance where if you are doing everything right according to the information you have but are found to be breaking the law as a result through no fault of your own you can claim "error in fact".  its not easy to win and you have to jump through hoops.  it could be a defense if say the car had passed a roadworthy as you would be relying on the facts of the road worthy certifier passing the car.

good succinct explanation here:

For all you know that cop's last call was a murder or bank robbery. You don't know what's going on in his life and he doesn't know what's going on in yours.

He is just doing his job. Next guy he pulls over for window tinting could be a drug dealer or unlicensed driver. I'm sorry you didn't know your tinting was too dark, but you just have to accept it and move on.

Not saying you shouldn't fight the ticket.

I understand but if he wasn't such a dickhead he could've just given me a warning. Or fkin' A...I would've been satisfied with something like "Well, unfortunately I'm going to have to write you this ticket...sorry about that."

Instead, he's a complete turd muffin about it. What ever. One of the TWO JOBS I work, is in the face of customers, and I would get fired if I treated somebody poorly just because I was having a bad day.

If you can afford it, get a lawyer to make some phone calls.

One time, I got pulled over going 90 in a 65.  It was a misdemeanor in the 4th degree...a hefty citation here in Ohio.  Minimum 6 points, possible license suspended.

Called a lawyer, he made some calls, and I got out of it.  Cost me $100.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...
