Got a job agency interview this arvo..... still driving/loading waste/garbage trucks. . But local to me (not 96km away) and 28.50/hour instead of 26.47 ... :)

Well I say interview... but these things usually are:

Watch safety video
Answer 20 multi choice questions to prove you not a moron !
Fill in tax/bank details
Wait a few days for start day
Do trial period. ... and keep going!

Should be interesting, I only drive/work rear loaders currently... new place has rear load, side load (joystick controlled hydraulic robot arm... be like the PS3!  Lol) and front load (1500 liter dumpsters lifted by 'rhino' truck)..... oh and 12k litre waste fluid trucks... grease trap pump out etc.... hope not much on them! ... they STANKS!

Janx101

Did interview... went quite well. . They pass my info and other applicants to employer shortly. ... so now we wait!

Iarn

They say you should dress for the job you're trying to apply for. Did you roll around in raw sewage to strut your dedication to the work?

peteGS

Nice Janx!!! Fingers crossed for ya' so you don't have to do that horrible commute every day...

Malfruen

Hope you get it Janx. Be f%&ked if I'd do that commute everyday.

Maybe Pete can help you out with some filters for your nostrils so you dont have to smell the liquid haha

ShowBizWolf

Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

peteGS

You'd probably only need the one filter, most are big enough to cover both nostrils at once  :thumb:

Thanks Malf and Wolf !!

Pete.... I dunno... My nostrils can flare pretty big! :icon_lol:

And the smells...... Well ... As he said in the movie "Kenny" ... 'Mate!, some of the smells in here are going to outlast religion!' ...    ;)

peteGS

Hahaha nice!!!

How soon 'til you hear back Janx??

I'm off to Bunnings this morning, gotta try to find some plastic I can make a new battery cover out of so I can ditch the aluminium one that's started rattling in recent times... and will give me more room for the filters over the velocity stacks.

Pete.. . If you can't find it at bunnings, go to a glass/windows type shop and grab some perspex. .. heated in a low oven you can mold it around stuff fairly well

Janx101

Oops... hopefully hear back this coming week... dunno exactly though

Janx101

Ummm 'poot!!' ... :/ no go chaps. .. they want minimum 1year experience on waste..... how much more am I gonna learn about garbage in another 6 month's?

peteGS

Bugger Janx!!! They could've told you that before you went for the interview though... not telling people minimum requirements is quite poor...

Don't wanna use perspex for a battery cover, it doesn't flex well and cracks easily... I did however pick up a big black plastic storage box for $8 I can cut apart and bend to shape.

Made a prototype cover last night that fits ok but discovered my heat gun is either melting hot or not hot enough so I will need to refine my technique when I make the next attempt. At least now I should be able to make a neat one properly  :thumb:

Oh, no pic's yet... wait til I make the good one...

I know they normally want about 12 months exp for the sideloaders. .. was hoping to get into the rearload section and transfer across later.... I'm not broken about it though... onwards and upwards! :thumb:

Janx101

Oh and the heatgun. . Full temp but pull it back about 4-6" ... makes a big difference in surface temp delivery! ... even a normal hair dryer its noticeable when varying the proximity!

Janx101

Oh and for a triple post.... love no edit in tapatalk eh!....

Storage boxes. ... usually injection or blow mold plastic/nylon/whatever.... they use heat as part of mold process.... the material is often good at reverting/shrinking back to original size..... so heatgun WILL be tricky process!

peteGS

Yeah attempt 2 (the real attempt) will need a bit more finesse with the heat gun... and some better support for creating the bends too, haven't gotten there yet.

I tried mounting the velocity stacks again last night but I just can't get them to clamp down firmly, I think I need wider slots in the base... dammit!

And Unifilter have had a delay on the springs that support the filters, so end of the month now  :technical:

Ok. .. it's a battery cover yeah? ... so put your battery on a bench. .. cut the top view battery shape out of some 5ply or chipboard scrap. .. keep the surround! ... heat your plastic, place on battery. .. push your rectangle template down over the plastic and battery.... let cool. ... prise the battery loose. .. mark and trim the bits you don't need.... install it! ;)

peteGS

Wow that's far too much effort for my lazy arse!!! But a great idea  :icon_mrgreen:

If I get enthusiastic I will put it to use... if I don't I'm sure you'll hear me whinge Buddha Loves You and moan because I did it another way and it didn't work...
