I'm starting to think more and more often of mine haul trucks .... When they start hiring again anyway  :icon_rolleyes: .. Either that or professional hitman  ;)

... I do always have enough cashflow to keep up..... It's just a complete biatch to get ahead of that! ...

codajastal

Working in the mines on the trucks will get you where you need to be for sure..

... Missus would hate it me being away wise ... But love it for getting ahead wise ...

Periods of solitude suit me .... Not of that lone wolf crap though ... Driving/riding time is thinking time!  :thumb:

I feel a dig was had at me then
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Jeez, I feel a little awkward too, Slips.
If it makes you feel any better... I owe a quarter million dollars on a $350,000 house. <gasp>

Just sayin'...
It never used to be this way here in America. Health care, taxes, insurances, were always rather stable.
But now-a-days the bills double & triple every year!
Pricing the middle class into poverty is Washington's mission and they are doing quite well at it.
I'm broke and in debt from paying strangers for services that the government says I must have but I never use!
Sh!t, I don't even get to ride a Beamer or buy cool toys. Just pay, pay, pay. (So yeah, enjoy the bike every day on every ride!)  :thumb:

Second Note to Slips:
I Wish I was in broke from toys and NOT supporting politicians lavish habits.
And yes, the topic pissed me off. I want to slap a fukin politician.  >:(

I'm 40 but not quite where you are Cods, but only due to the mortgage though plus a very small amount on a credit card... we just use the cards for their 55 day interest free periods then they're paid off  :thumb:

I want to be debt free ASAP! That's why I won't take a loan to get my Kat, I will wait until the time is right and cash is available first.

However I now have to make a donation to the policeman's ball... done for going through a *yellow* light yesterday... FFS!

No amount of explanation re: reducing my risk after being knocked off twice in recent times would change his mind... in his opinion I could've safely stopped and that's that, $330 and 3 points  >:(

The law has become a complete load of shaZam! and is not there to make anyone safe, just raise more $$$$

Welcome to the good old rs of a ... Wife and I are working off about R60 000 in debts...doesn't sound like a lot (only about $6 000), but in a country where a good salary is about $1000 a month, and where medical aid is a must because government health care is literally a death sentence and an average 40% income tax is paid so our government officials can afford their 28 million rand houses and 7 wives and we pay about a 50% tax per litre on fuel and average increase is about 5% while inflation is about 7%, it's still damn difficult! But at least food is cheap (about $5 for a super-sized big mac meal).  :woohoo:

Don't reckon the dig was at you slips ... There is heaps of us that have gone credit crazy in the last decade or more ... You just happen to be included! ...

.. Doing a quick add up in my head .... Credit and business bills .... I'm .... Hmmm ... Just over 50k Aussie is how deep my neck is .... And that's with no actual house ... Just rental .. About a third of that is controllable and works into the weekly budget with little stress .... The rest is ... Well the instalments are paid when they need to be.. Just! ...

If work was there for the trucks to do every day then I could chop the total in half over 4 months and clean the current lot up in about 12 ... But ... Come Dec 2013/Jan 2014 ... I've gotta sign up for another 20k of advertising and 6k of workers comp ... If I keep it going ... Plus ... Out of every fortnight ... 4 or 5 actual days are worth it ...

Hence my hope for a spot in mines ... No sign up for extra bills ... Just higher income than last time I was on a wage ... Mate of mine in WA is a 'all rounder' and can pull $150-180k on mining, he trying to get on a gas project though , for $250k!! ... As a greenhorn I could maybe get $70-80k first year and see where it goes from there eh! ...

For my current business .. Doubt a change of govt will matter a damn.... I know my current 'industry' well enough to have seen where its going ... It'll end up with big groups taking all the main work ... And cut throats working cheap to clean up the trash ... Unless of course the housing situation suddenly disappears ... No people can actually have somewhere to move to easier...  :icon_rolleyes:

See your lucky ej I can't wait to owe a third of a mil on a slice of Australia that's all mine and its what I'm working toward. By my rekkoning ill be in a proper position to buy in 2 years. And yes I hate the lavish lifestyle of the pollies. But if you cant beat em join em. Might join the KAP if he allows a conscious vote on same sex marriage.

Oh I'd love to go to the mines but the stress it would put on the family isn't worth it. The other thing is that when the job finishes and if you have go back to the world of a normal paying the job that could be a bit of a shock to adjust to the pay drop.

Yeah there is that... Right now everything is quiet .. With mostly 'local based' hires.... If it picks up again though ... 2 week on 1 off FIFO ... That's kinda manageable ... One of the contacts I have lives over near Browns Plains up your way? .. He is still doing FIFO for billiton now! ... Iron ore mine up far north west from what he said.... Not as lush as goldfields... But regular and long term and still over the 110k without dramas ...

I just know that while I have gotten reasonable satisfaction from moving furniture for most of 25 years ... It's time to change... Do something that I want to.... Not that I feel stuck/trapped in ...

I am one of natures Truck drivers .... Not a desk honcho !
