Playing with carbs and jets again last night... and think I have discovered why the right plug keeps showing lean compared to the left plug... I think the 450 carb boots just don't play nice with the 500 carbs as the 500 carbs are just a touch smaller diameter on the engine side.

I think I clamped 'em down just a touch better this time but we shall see... could mean another $100 to get the 500 carb boots, O rings, and clamps on there... it never ends!!

You open the gates to hell (carbs) then you walk the lava path for eternity! ;)

peteGS

Yeah for sure... the way this is going it will almost be as expensive as just buying new VM32's... although having said that there would be throttle linkages to deal with and the inlet side of things... so no it's still way cheaper  :thumb:

Someone coming to eyeball the bike this afternoon. .. if they want it then cool! .  Reluctant sale but still necessary!

peteGS

Heading out riding this morning... marked the throttle positions with tape again last night, hopefully I can squeeze a half and full throttle plug chop in and see how she's going.

Janxy... on the one hand I hope it sells quick for you... on the other hand... I hope you get to keep your bike...

Yeah me too on the last part..

No rego for over 6months cos of budget... but even if it had been rego, so few chances to have a fun/relax ride.... I could use it to commute to work at 3.30am (cold/ sometimes wet) and home at 2pm (tired/traffic) . . Yeah sounds like excuses :/ .. still no rego tho!

Damn... Things must be mighty slow in the big leagues if you've come down here to the LPW thread.
Either way, good to see your still alive & kicking.

I must be blind... I didn't notice it was Jester who posted!!! Wow nice to see you Jester!!!

And I forgot to do my plug chops yesterday, was way too busy having way too much fun coz she's pulling well all through the rev range and I got to crank up her and let her go through some fun corners.

Only catch is with the stacks on I need to start wearing ear plugs again... the howling at half throttle and beyond was starting to give me a headache by the time I got home yesterday...

They give you weekend parole jester? ;)

Finally starting to get a little chilly... had to break out the dressing gown...

Had a stuff around with the drill press my dad gave me ages ago and it seems like it actually does work! So last night I got some bench space cleared and bolted it down ready to roll... will be nice to have a drill press! Will come in very handy...

Now that's done I can see where I can create a bit more room and get a bit more organised on the work bench and clear up the access to the tools. Might pop in there again tonight and do some more... pic's when I'm done  ;)

Oooh a tidy work bench!.   And pics!! , might need some Kleenex for this! ;)

peteGS

A little more done last night but still more to go... Kleenex? Hmmmm... not sure if it will be *quite* that exciting... but you never know!

I'll build up the suspense with updates without pic's... then give you a big anti climax pic when it's done...

Tonight may be carb boot replacement rather than work bench tidy if they arrive today...
