Camo? Yeah maybe worthless... entertaining? You bet!  :D

I do have progress of sorts, but a little different... the old Festiva is being put out to pasture later this week, so somehow I've ended up with half the garage free. Room for the Kat to move in beside the 450, but very messy as I have a lot of stuff to sort out now.

I'll get that finished up today then back to sanding. Supposed to be wet tomorrow so Wednesday I should be able to lay some more primer down.

LOL since Ej liked the minibird, i got a size comparison for him and all. maybe a foot longer than the toyota clone i stole err borrowed for a moment and parked beside it. and if i turn it at an angle it will fit in motorcycle parking there.

Aaron

That's a tiny little helicopter there! Video not working for me though?  :dunno_black:

Probably about 50% sanded... definitely need more high build primer, lots of low spots...

More primer with a nice run and a divet...

Then decided to start tackling this dodgy repair I found while prep'ing the cases for paint a while back...

Untitled by starpoint73, on Flickr

It was an awesome repair job... whatever they used just flaked off as I filed away at it, almost no effort required to remove the dodgy crap. The gasket surface part of the repair was so uneven there was no way that was oil tight without a bunch of gasket goo in there...

Well... I won't say easy as... but theory is pretty straight forward  ;)

Clean it all up *really* well.

Scrap aluminium shaped to the inside curve and coated with anti seize, then build up JB Weld around the outside and above the gasket surface.

File it back close to the right shape and close to the gasket surface.

Finish off with sandpaper to match the gasket surface.

Just need my hands on a stator cover first and hopefully some of the other Kat folk on the other forums will share photos of that area so I can make it resemble how it should look.

Some items here. . .
1.) Janx is still alive? Cool!  :woohoo:

2.) Hot damn.... I found a pic of my old GS500 on Imgur just before I sold it.

If I was five foot nine instead of six foot three I'd still own that bike.
