Why does no one do a job properly any more!!!!!!!!!! With painful photos

I know that we all need to make money and that the hours taken do do work must be minimised so people rush and can't make a living doing things properly - but why oh why do people DO THINGS LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sent the head for a valve job and this is what they , a very reputable machine shop in montreal, did to my cam journals. FFS!!

Any ideas, do you think it is salvageable?

Hmm, might actually be fine. But still, you paid money for them to do that? Did they think you wouldn't notice? Lol, I'm sorry that happened to you. At least when stuff like that happens to my engine, its my own fault.

I would be straight on to them and let them know you are not happy. Then you could name and shame them if they wont help and let them know

You should be fine. Insure you file off any nibs that stick into the cam shafts. Smooth the top of the one with all the bumps so the cam cap sits flush.

That area if damage is bathed in oil. No place for it to leak out as it is inside under the valve cover.

A real PITA that they did that.

The good thing is it is not on any critical areas. You will be OK.

Can you believe I did not notice it when I collected it,

I have emailed them the photos and will have an interesting discussion tomorrow.

i always take pictures of before machine shop to compare with after. often right in front of them when talking about the job/part.   i often ask them to give it a look infront of me to see if they notice anything and i document anything they spot that i might have missed.  if those marks wernt there when you sent it out, i would show them pic's on what you found and ask what can be done.  that is were the cam's sit thats the end of the line for pressurized oil.  would hate to think the cams would not be properly fed or torqued do to miss fit machined surfaces
