Cheek weld/scope parallax -- any tips?

I've gotten to the point I can hold my guns nice and steady and give them a good clean trigger pull. My problem now is with my cheek weld.

When I use the 'close your eyes, aim the rifle, open your eyes' to see if the scope is where it should be, my eye always ends up in a different spot 

I think I could get some lower rings and a taller stock to help, but I'm always quick to blame my equipment before myself so I figure I'd ask for a second opinion. But it seems to me like I should have a lot more contact than just a bit of my jawline.

Any thoughts?

errr... whats the setup to start with? ... pics of it? ... would help to see what is possible

Well, did some research and it turns out that the parallax is caused by the crosshair and scope image being in different focal planes, so with a focusable scope when you focus the image to the crosshair it eliminates the parallax. That explains why my 100 yd groups are almost as tight as my 25 yd groups 

I was talking to a guy at the range today who shoots competitively and he told me I'm a little high off the stock but it's not particularly bad since I shoot it from different positions. He told me it's more important to get a high quality scope which is when I started doing my research.

So, I went ahead and ordered one of these, got it for $75 shipped. Should do well on my .22s at least.

Those cheap Chinese scopes work with .22 and even AR's, but anything more and the recoil will kill it.  That being said, some of those cheap Chinese scopes can actually be quite nice, though it is a crap chute whether you get a good one.

a crap chute or a crap shoot?, trykng to figure that out. but I agree with what you were saying though. the world is in trouble once the Chinese figure out how to clone quality.  that's the only thing they've not figured out lol

I own two UTG red dot sights, they've been dropped, lenses (and bodies) have been shot with airsoft guns, they've been swung on slings into trees, and one was mounted on a very powerful piston airgun, all without any problems. Quality control seems really good on them too. Between that and the good reviews I decided to try the scope I ordered.

I also have a couple NCStar scopes. One is a 2-7x32 mounted on my Mosin Nagant, only problem was it slid off the dovetail once before I pinned it. Fell 5' onto concrete landing on the front end and it survived with only a slight bend/scratch. It's easily seen 500 rounds of 7.62x54R, no problems. Very basic, but decent quality.

All the other Chinese brands I've seen were fairly bad. Only 'exception' being powerline (walmart) -- scope rings very visibly bent in a few shots out of an airgun, but the scope itself is still working fine and holding a good zero on a .22. Not sure if I'd trust it with more. Oddly enough, it has the most satisfyingly easy/smooth/fluid zoom level adjustment of any scope I've used (including a few very high end ones)

I have a couple ncstar/utg red dot sites and they acquit themselves just fine.  Adjusting them can be a pain, but once set it's all good. 

Some people say they break easily.  I have found they are fairly reliable, but never mounted on any high power rifles.
