Ok so I moved to CA about two years ago now from Florida. My Florida license has a motorcycle endorsement. I need to go get my CA drivers license (both car and motorcycle). I know that for the car license I need to take a written test. What will I have to do to get my M2 CA license on my drivers license? Will I have to retake the road test? Written test? Take the MSF course again? Bribe an official?

I've heard that endorsements are transferrable, within a certain amount of time, and that you only need to do the written test. BUT don't quote me on that.

also, M2 is for scooters and stuff. M1 is for motorcycles.

good luck with the DMV and I suggest making an appointment.

I dont know how this got put in the projects section, if a mod sees this please put in the general discussion forum. And yea I meant M1 license, its confusing ok, FL doesnt have separate licenses, only endorsements... and anyone with a regular drivers license can drive a scooter. But you HAVE to have a regular license before getting the motorcycle endorsement. So in FL if you cant drive a car you cant drive a scooter or motorcycle either.

Northern CA, San Mateo County to be more specific. And yea all the licenses go on the same physical card so you could call them endorsements in a way but the distinction is that they can be added individually. So you can have just an M2 or just an M1 or Just a car license (although the M1 supercedes the M2 so you wouldn't have M1 and M2, just M1). Anyway I think thats how it works. But I need my car license and M1...
