One thing I learnt with my 450... whenever you think you will be done, you won't... my aim was on the road for her 30th birthday in 2011 but I missed that by a month and a half, still got her done before Christmas of the same year  :thumb:

Keep at it mate, you'll get there!

yeah just sourcing the parts is becoming the hard part. I mean I got the basic stuff down.. I also HAD the stock "e" headlight mounts the silver parts... but I have NO IDEA where they went!!

also I had an idea for building a rear-fairing/cover for the side of the seat.

since my side fairings are cracked and im never planning on using them, I personally hate the way Suzuki does their fairings, I more of a CBR fan.. I Think im gonna cut them up, and use them as rear fairings.

So while waiting for my brake stuff to come in. I decided to pull apart the rear caliper to see what it looked like...

now I know why the rear rotor looked like so.

SERIOUSLY. the problem with the GS being seen as a beginners bike, is people don't own them long enough to do basic maintenance. when something goes wrong they just sell it...

HOW COULD SOMEONE LET THE REAR BRAKES GET THIS BAD. there is NO PAD left!

Lol! I already ordered a rotor + pads + chain sprocket from them, because of the 15% off. it should be in tomorrow or sometime, I ordered from them before my bike bandit order on Saturday. I think it was around the 1st or 2nd of feb.

And why isn't there any cheap company's out there making stainless steel throttle tubes? I might have to get into the business... just realized my plastic one is kinda cracked towards the end of the tube. AFTER I placed the order on bikebandit.

also for the OEM clutch lever [20 bucks later..] I'm going to make myself a master mold of it, so I can cast myself a few new ones if I drop the bike later on... 20 bucks is crazy, but I didn't wanna source the non OEM parts, like new clutch perch and such. or get levers that fit, but most of them  don't have a slot for the safety sensor. even though almost every bike I've owned so far, I've bypassed that sensor.  :icon_mrgreen: :icon_lol: It's there for a reason? [at least thats what I keep telling myself to justify my laziness and the 20 dollar level.]

I've ordered all the same things for my bike

but these are my rotors

ooooh I like the look of those  8)
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

those front rotors are sexy.  :icon_eek:

but mine seem to actually be NEW from the PO...  :icon_rolleyes:

so I only wanted to replace the rear. before I bought the rear rotor, I made sure to check the material, the one from D2 ARE stainless steel in material, that means I can run HH rear pads without a worry of them eating the rotors alive.

waiting for mail to come is the worst part, more so then paying for the stuff...  :icon_razz: :icon_rolleyes: :icon_twisted:

I know what you mean. The rotors I ordered are also stainless so my HH pads with a 6 piston caliper should be okay... OOPS just gave away my next project lol

Yea i'm going to have brackets made for the Busa/zzr600 front 6 piston caliper to bolt onto the stock GS fork leg. After replacing my forks I can confirm the 1st gen caliper and 2nd gen GS500e/f calipers bolt on with no mods.

meaning the 6 piston bracket will bolt onto any year GS500!

is it normal for the front sprocket to have some play??? back and forth, not side to side. not the toothed part, basically sliding back and forth between the shaft and little clip.

I thought I replied to this yesterday...

ALRIGHTY THEN!

today I got it moving and stopping...

stopping Good, moving not so much.

while fiddling around to get it to go Stock exhaust, main jets are a tad higher from the P/O noting too bad. running no airbox/filter because I was in my drive way and I noticed one of my fuel lines was a tad too short to fit the airbox back in.... so and here's what I got to deal with......  :technical:

My choke cable tugs on the choke a little when fully locked to the right.

Right carb backfires, FLAMING CARBS.

the petcock leaks from what I think is around the switch area... pretty good flow leak too, also a bunch of sludge came out of it. lucky for me, I now have clear fuel lines and the sludge got stuck at the bottom of the line.

The carbs also leak... From that stupid plastic T-connector

My idle hangs a tad bit.. oh and the idle screw does NOTHING.  :icon_mrgreen:

oh and little misfire pops in the exhaust too.

edit; I also just pulled the plugs, left side looks okay, and the right side is slightly leaner. but not so lean that it would explain the backfires... I'm gonna relate this to the weird idle..

but it moved..... years later... it moved on its own power.....  :flipoff:

Still it's good progress!!!!

The leaks can be fixed, as for the idle... it's either way too lean on the pilot or needle or you have an intake air leak... my guess is intake leak  :thumb:

is that a knock at my lack of air-box/air filter?  :icon_lol:

its not the carbs that worry me really, its that petcock... because that's one dem "it breaks, u screwed. get a new one!" kind of things... lol I thought I was pretty much DONE using the postal service on this machine. GUESS NOT.

Hahaha no in fact I must've missed reading you didn't have anything there... that would explain it though  ;)

I bit the bullet on the 450 and just bought a new fuel tap, hasn't caused me any grief over 3 years later...

I cracked open the petcock today. the design of the thing is just silly... and I found the problem child. hopefully i can find a fix.
