So i put the new shock in a few weeks ago before my 1000 mile ride around lake Michigan.

I love this upgrade!

but i was reading that the kat 600 rear shock can lower the gs by 1/2" to 1" ?

is that something that's adjustable? is it an adjustable shock? i think it is but i'm not sure what it should be adjusted to.

is the bike just lower because the shock is smaller in size?

thanks!

It lowers it ??? compared to what ?
The shock lets the bike sit maybe 1/2"-1" taller with no load compared to a stock shock GS.
Load up and its more like 1.5-2" taller than a comparably loaded stock shocked GS. That is with the lowest setting on spring preload with the kat shock.

Cool.

Yep! ... Kat shock raises bike,  even with my 300 lb butt on the seat and on lowest setting!
You have 7 preload settings and 3? Damper positions...

Its for the more solid bodied riders! :thumb:

interestingly, this site says that with raising the rear end, the kickstand will need to be "elongated"

i didn't have to do anything to mine. I guess it wasn't raised enough for it to cause an issue.

Bluesmudge

The bike leans more to the stand side than stock, but it still works fine.

There are a lot of katana shocks, and a lot of bikes they can be used in... if reading other sites info on Kat upgrades make sure the bike they mention (sometimes muddled info) is the bike you think they mention... ;)

That doesn't happen here tho! All gstwins posts are clear, succinct and accurate! :thumb: Bahahaha
