looks like I missed out on some good topics here, I've been dealing with end of semester crap. But adding my additional 2cents.

... ive had roadrash on my legs 3 times now.. not exactly fun.

Dude, go get yourself some riding jeans at least!  CycleGear has some deals going right now, Kevlar lined with padded knees for like $80.

Problem is I'm a skinny dude, they fit like a pillow case. and I need to wear BLACK pants for school.

those aren't 80 dollars, and they don't have my size..

how about these https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/icon-1000-royal-drive-pants

on sale for 80. Revzilla usually has good deals on gear.

Also I know we all have preferences on helmet types from german, full face, modular etc etc. But why not always opt for the most protection for the head that the full face provides?

I have enough things to worry about, the last thing I want to add to my plate is a f%&ked up face due to half of it being removed from hitting the pavement. Besides that my gf seems to love seeing me in my riding gear. Not sure if its the comfort of knowing I'm as safe as can be while riding that turns her or on, or the fact that I just look good in my gear :D :D but I don't care which it is, as long as the effect of it continues.

Something like 30% of all head impacts strike the chin-bar.  It's the most impacted area, and the forehead comes second.
Icon actually made a helmet with a "statistic" graphic showcasing this.

When I had my lowside 2 years ago I did strike the chin-bar, with enough force to break the vent.  Maybe I wouldn't be missing my face since it was a bounce and then a tumble but I'd probably have gotten a broken jaw from it.

According to that graph, including both sides, its actually closer to 35%. And both sides of the forehead only add up to a little over 18%. So, wouldn't that make the chin bar the most commonly impacted area, full stop?

Also, personally, I feel that if you're concerned enough about injury to be wearing a helmet at all, why not go full face? A 3/4 or half shell isn't much more than a fashion statement, IMO. Yeah, might save you from becoming a vegetable, but you could still break (or even lose!) your bottom jaw or scrape away part of your face. Any time I've seen photos of an injury like that, its ground away down into the bone, which is infection city. And a bone infection? At that point, I'd almost rather be a vegetable.

Yes.  I meant that the forehead was second, but that's clearly not what I typed.

Going to fix...
