Will a GS450 connecting rod work in the GS500?

Title say's it all. will it work? having trouble finding a single 500 rod to use.. but oh boy there's TONS of GS450 rods.

If they're cheap... buy one and see? I know you can do the swap of GS500 pistons onto a 450 bottom end, so I would imagine the rods would have to be compatible for that to work?

they look the same.. and WAYY cheaper too.

I dunno about production numbers, maybe just what people have out on the internet right now, I've noticed the last 5 years or so GS parts have become more and more rare. I'm not sure why.. well besides nobody's buying new ones. last one was 2009 in the US 8 years ago.. and there's NEW bikes that have replaced the GS. dying breed I suspect. I know I'm ready to give mine up... lol at least it's already in pieces....

I have noticed that too. For so long a big advantage of the GS was the cheap used parts with low miles. Those are becoming harder and harder to come by. You don't see many GS's with less than 10,000 miles on them anymore.

That's interesting to read... over here in Aus they're actually becoming easier to get and cheaper. In the back of my mind once my Kat is done my plan is to get a GS500 motor and build it up with a 450 head to somewhat hotrod my 450, and the way things are looking at the moment it wouldn't cost too much at all...

Oh really Mr Janxy? I think my funds are going to be tied up for the next 6 or 8 months to get the Kat done... but if you still have it then, yes please!!! I have carbs already (2001 GS500's on the 450) so that's no issue at all.
