tl;dr Is it possible to depressurise an R6 shock?

Ok I'm trying to get a shock to Australia, I wasn't able to find anything here (maybe some of the aussies could tell me I'm looking in the wrong places), so I ordered one of eBay in Portland and to avoid spending an additional 100aud(-ish) with ups shipping I'm using the Aussie forwarding courier "ShopMate". But now they've said it's dangerous because it's pressurized. Is it possible to depressurise an R6 shock? How? Does anyone know any cheapo couriers to use if ShopMate doesn't come to the party?

You depressure it and it likely has to be repressured - don't know who does that even around the US. Its got something like nitrogen @ 350 psi to - get this provide fluid preload and to keep it from foaming. Like that foaming was a huge problem in the old days ... and why would you ever need a fluid preload Like these clowns invented the shock - yea I get it a thinner shock fluid reacts faster, preload etc etc - OK fine from the world of the magnetic shock fluids with nano particles - everything is possible.

Don't depressurize it. That is how you prepare a shock for safe disposal. You drill a hole in the shock with a plastic bag over the drill and shock. Assuming you could reverse the process, a shock overhaul to put it back together is like $350. Then you might as well have purchased a used Ohlins or some other premium brand.

Source an R6 shock locally. They must have sold the R6 across the globe. Maybe it had a different name.
Or a Katana shock, or a GSXR shock. Or for all the trouble and money buy a custom built shock.

Somebody must be over thinking this shpping issue. I mean Ohlins and all the other companies build shocks and ship them across the world. How are they doing it? In bullet proof cases? No, its just styrofoam and cardboard. See if you can use USPS or Fedex instead of whoever you are currently dealing with.
