Seems like a lot of options. I searched the forums seems the clutch lever is a special part. So are any of these a direct replacement. If not what needs to bed one in order to make any of these fit? I haven't been able to get a straight answer by searching and the WIKI dosen't have anything about lever replacement options. I saw the stuff from LSL expensive. I see the levers on amazon and they look the same. So what do i need to know?

I gambled and ordered a shorty CNC set from eBay that said it fit the GS500. The only modification I had to make was cutting the clutch cable boot back because it got caught on the clutch lever adjuster.

If it says it fits the GS500 I think its worth the gamble to order and see if it will fit. The LSL levers are much nicer but they are 4x the cost of a pair of ebay levers for just one LSL lever (so really 8x the cost).

The more foolproof method is to buy and install a Suzuki SV650 clutch perch first and then order a clutch lever for the SV650 that since its much more common bike.

Ok what is the process of installing the perch? is it a hard thing to do or simple? I have zero experience with motorcycles, i have only ever worked on cars and this is my first bike. I don't mind extra work. I just want an idea of what im getting myself into. Also spending money on random things just to find out they don't work is something I'm very hesitant to do.

gruntle

A direct replacement will cost from £5 - £6 ($7 upwards) from ebay - why the heck would you pay $25??? for some ugly unmatching ghastly stuff???

I have a plain to turn this bike into a street fighter style bike, so this is my winter project to have something custom by spring time. So i am just getting stuff that will fit my style and what my vision is for it. Plus we all have different styles, what i like isn't going to be the same for you on my bike.

Sorry, I have not done it myself. Mechanically it would be simple to remove the clutch cable and perch and then reinstall the SV650 version on the handlebar. What I am less sure of is if the clutch switch is compatible. There is a switch in the perch that tells the bike when the clutch is pulled in. You would need to either bypass it or make sure the GS wiring plugs into the SV clutch perch. I think the wiring is compatible...that's why others have talked about doing this modification.

If you go the SV perch route, make sure its for the naked SV650 that has mirrors on the handlebars like the GS500. Also in looking at older posts on the subject you might have to get a new clutch cable that has a 90 degree bend because apparently the SV650 perch send the clutch cable directly into the gauges. Can't confirm, sorry.

I'm sure you can find some levers.

If you were to change the clutch perch, the clutch switch connections are in the headlight bucket. Yellow/green wires.

At the switch, there is a contact plate that screws on.
