Hi-T

Just curious if anyone has riden a bandit 600.  I have a lead on a 2001 for $3000 with only 2000 miles.  So if you have tried one- what's the word?

I was thinking of going with an sv as my next ride... should I go the bandit route?

Depends on what you want to do with it.

Think of the B6 as an overgrown GS. The ergonomics are pretty similar, except its a bit taller and of course, quite a bit heavier.

I was really thinking about getting one when trying to decide what I wanted after my SV (was becoming a racebike/sold).  I wanted a comfortable, medium "Sport Tourer", but found the Bandits a bit too much on the tourer side. They are heavy at around 500 lbs, and lack fully adjustable suspension (one of my requirements after the SV), and their engine design is as old as the GS'.

So I chose a YZF600R. Somewhat lighter, but with full wind protection, adjustable boingers, faster, and at least as comfortable as the B6.

Back to your two stated options. If you are commuting in town or want a more "racy" bike, get the SV. But if you do a daily hiway ride, or any kind of long distance trips, the Bandit might be a better choice.

Never ridden one myself but this is a review of a 2000.

I don't think membership is required to read that one.

The 600R is an excellent choice with its supreme versatility.  I would also check insurance on the Yammie vs. the Bandit and SV.  That may aid in your final decision

I test rode a B6 (2002 i think).  I found it to be all around very capable.  It handles nicely in the city and is fairly easy to manage.  Power does not really come on until 9-10000 rpm but has enough for around town riding.  If you like low to mid-range grunt, you would be disappointed in this bike.  Highway riding is nice with the fairing.  The 1200 has more low-end grunt.  Power wheelie's no prob.

Like the GS, the it is a great value for the price but it is not the best in class.
