Went back to the bike shop again, that salesman was there that tried to sell me another bike other than the GS500E(new), told him to p*ss off.
The boss of the store walked over and I told him what this guy was doing!
He said that in the states you guys raced these things! He went on about fitting a belly pan, remote gas/oil rear shockers, head light cow,put a performance exhaust system, fitting the GS500F oil cooler set up,and if you want to go sick with the engine-stroke the engine with larger pistons. After that will not keep the front wheel on the ground. :? S*it , I walked out of the store more confused!
As my old man would say, if it isn't broken, don't f""k with it!
Am going to fit the progessive front springs & maybe the rear shocker.

Their are 2 series in the AFM you can race a GS (I believe).  It is 450 Superbike and 500 twins.  Our very own Bob Broussard has a couple bikes he races 500 twins.  Last season he was in 450 superbike and 500 twins and also took top standing in 500 twins :thumb:.  I think with the suspension, you'll be quite happy with the GS for a while.  Don't worry about doing all those internal engine mods unless you are going to take it racing seriously.

This December will complete my 2nd year of ownership.  Though I have been stricken by the '05 Speed Triple, I am very happy with my GS.  I just turned over 20K miles on the clock and its been getting better gas mileage than I have seen on it yet.

This is the famous pic of Bob at Willow Springs

What are the salesman in Melbourne doing they sound like a bunch of tossers.
Its funny when ever I look through cycle trader mags I think lucky devils in Victoria get so much better prices and choices then here in Sydney but if the salesmen down south are like that then Im glad I buy up here at least the salesmen up here will just try to sell you the bike you want and nothing else even if you want other stuff you'll have to ask.
And even when they walk away in disgust because you beat them down to there lowest price they still wont try and sell anything else
So walk in there and say "I WANT A GS500" and if you even try to suggest anything else I'll walk out the door and you will have lost a sale totally remeber a small commission is better then none.
That should get proper business happening and if they still talk crap go to another dealer Melbourne seems to have heaps of them :thumb:
