Over time my bike has gotten to the point where I have to push the left handgrip forward just a bit before the key will turn.  It's not a design feature -- some surface(s) must have slowly worn down somewhere.  :dunno:

Maybe it was dropped while in the "lock" position.  Someone knocked over my bike once and I had some problem unlocking it after that.

Cheers,

Hmmmm.  Come to think of it, mine has been dropped a time or two on the left side, too.  Perhaps my steering head stop is "notched" and allows the front end to turn just a tad too far to the left?  :dunno:

To lock or unlock the steering on my '03 the bar position is quite critical, it has been from new. I have to push the left grip right "into" the tank.

i will try some more tonight i will try again tonight but i tried alot last night.  The suzuki dealer told me to use a little lube in the lock I will try all of your suggestion man is it frustrating me

scratch

If you ride in the rain alot, squirt some WD40, Liquid Wrench, or some lube that diplaces water into the keyhole. I also spray some on the key and insert it into the ignition and turn it, repeatedly.
