Will an 01 GS500E fit in the bed of a full-sized truck (F150 with 6.5 ft bed)? Suzuki's website says the 04 is 6.75 feet long, but I can't find length for an 01 (I imagine they are very similar).

Definitely... I fit my '94 in the back of my short bed Nissan, a little cocked to the side b/c of my tool box, and could shut the tailgate... You shouldn't have any probs w/ a real truck.

No problem there... I haul mine all the time in my step-side ranger bed.  I can't put the tailgate up tho.

I am just worried that if the bike is angled that it'd be harder to strap down and more likely to fall over... I'll just have to strap her down reeeeeal tight. Thanks for the quick replies!

Yeah.. if you're going far.. keep it straight. I only had to bring my across town (~10mi).. but it was kinda wibbly wobbly the way it was angled. I'd say keep it straight and strap it down tight.. better to leave the tailgate open than to be crooked. That's what I'll do next time I have to haul it somewhere.

You can leave the tailgate down if you need to. It should be fine. Congratulations on finding a bike.

If anyone is interested I can weld you up a motorcycle hitch hauler for the cost of supplies and $40.  I can make them for 1-1/4" and 2" receivers.  If you want the fancy locking swivel type so you can push it on it will cost a tad more.
