Has anyone used the Promaxx tire by Maxxis they come in stock sizes?

yes, holds ok in corners, wet traction is good, wear is good

The bike I just bought from Ed_in_Az has a pair of them installed.  They worked well in the dry and the wet (and the snow!) as I rode the bike from Arizona to Utah last week.

I'm sure Ed could give us more details, like total miles, initial cost, etc.

consider how much mileage they'll have by the time you take the track school. You'll want fresh tires for that (near new tires are required usually). One thing to consider-tires are the only thing keeping you from sliding on the pavement. Its a poor choice to try going budget. If you're interested in more trackdays look to better tires from the get-go and just pony up the extra money.

At the rate I use tires I'm getting a set every 3 months ($275/set), although if this friggin rain doesnt stop that'll save me a set.

I've got a set and I'm happy with them. I don't really have anything to compare to, when I bought the bike it had some old, dryed out BT45s that the back was flattened from doing burnouts... I've put about 3k on them so far and they seem to be wearing well and get good traction wet or dry.

Hey, they are cheap, about $115 for both. I believe I ordered them from Chaparral. I liked the looks of them too. They seemed to wear a little fast to me, but I don't get the mileage some(or most) people do. :dunno: As Kerry has said, they grip quite well in both wet and dry conditions. I'd call them a "performance" tire for those on a budget. The only negative about them is the flack you'll get from those that spend more for name brands. :mrgreen:
