Just for the record. I still do the advancer mod.
The new GS500F has a completely different rotor so I can't modify it.
Just send your rotor and $5.00 to me and I'l modify it and send it back.
I was sending an advancer first and getting the stock one in return. but somehow people forget to send their rotor and money, so I ran out of extra rotors.

Good to hear from you again. I haven't seen you post as much lately.

It's a shame people weren't sending their rotors & money. Bob's work & service is greatly appreciated by all those who have taken advantage of this awesome mod. I think this was actually my first mod  .

If onlye there were more people like Bob & Kerry offering their time, service, or tools essentially for free for the good of helping others in our beloved gstwin community.

Thanks again. :thumb:

What exactly are the benefits to this mod?  I understand how it advances the spark timing and I also understand it makes the engine run cooler, but are asperation changes needed i.e. intake box, re-jetting and exhaust?  How would this mod effect a otherwise stock bike?

Big bad Bob.  Nice to hear from you.   :thumb:

Stephen, maybe you should go to the Mods & How To section & read about the advancer replacement.  Just click on the little box that says "Go To" on the top right hand part of the page and select "Mods & How To"
There is more to this site than a message board.  Check out http://www.gstwin.com

I modify the stock rotor to the V&H specs.
So the timing is advanced to 17 degrees.
A noticeable difference from the 12 degree rotors and a huge difference from the 5 degree rotor on the CA. models.

I haven't been posting on the board for awhile. But I do check in often.
Been busy building another bike with some newer pieces.

Maybe Kerry could help me post some pics in a post some day :dunno:

Aussie GS

Hey Bob
I'm here in Australia, would very much like an advancer but to send my rotor over would leave me bikeless for atleast a month, is it possible for you to find a rotor over there, modify it and bill me for the rotor, your time and the postage, if so any idea  what the cost is likely to be. I havent checked to see how much a rotor will cost over here to be able to send to you but if it's like most other part's it will be twice as dear as you can get one for over there. I understand fully if it's too much of a hassel, by what you charge I relise your doing this as a service to fellow rider's.

I have about 6 or so stock rotors. Not sure how many I am going to send to Bob to modify but maybe I can help you out.
Common sense in not very common.

Interested in this. Since I have to give you my rotor, just wondering what the turn around time is.
I love YOU goes to college.

jake42

turn around time is about a week.  I sent mine to Bob from PA, It cost me like 5.40 to send priority mail and had it back in just about a week's time.

I have 2 spare modified rotors on hand. So I can send the advancer first instead of waiting for yours. This is only for someone that can't do without their bike. In the past I've run out of rotors because some people never sent theirs to me in return.  :nono:
So Aussie GS, PM me with your address and I'll send one out  :thumb:

Normal turnaround time is 1 week from the day you send the rotor in the US.

Aussie GS

:)  Really really appreciated this and I guarntee I will send you my rotor by registered post to make sure it gets to you soon as the modified one arrives. Many thanks  :thumb:

Thanks also dgyver for the offer to help out also very appreciated

Here's another question for this thread. The 04 US model shows it has a 5 degree advance and all other models show a 12 degree. So, could the ignition  advancer from all other 04 models fit the US model, and if not what's the difference? And would this be beneficial or is this too much of an advance for the US model?

Shane
Ride her Hard, but respect her or she will dump you.
Yellow F(now All Black F), Srinath's SM Knock Off Bars, Avon AM51/52, Wileyco, Jetted, UNI, Katana Shock, 14T, GSXR Mirrors, Front and Rear signals, Federectomy, CBR Footpegs, Progressives and CBR solo tail coming soon.

Bob Broussard

The 04 model rotor is completely different than any other GS year.
I can't modify them. But if you could get an 04 rotor with the 12 degree advance, that would work just fine.
I wasn't aware Suzuki had 2 specs, but it makes sense that the US model would be less advanced to meet smog regs.
I'd go for it :)
