Zac, my father used to work for the Forest Service in the fire towers, so it's okay to talk to the squirrels, but if they talk back and you can understand them, then there's a problem.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Names Ron, 39 yrs old. 3 kids. Reformed Drinker. Single now.  Have worked as a machinist for the last 12 years. Also have my A&P license. USAF Helicopter Mechanic 1983-1987. Just a tinkerer in general. Started riding on the street at 18 on a 76 XS650.

Then drinking got in the way till last year. 2 DUI's will do that to a guy. Trying to get a license back after 6 years.

Currently own a 72 Triumph chopper project. Two XS650's, including the 76 I first bought. A 71 Honda CL350 that will be my ride to work. Also have in my shop, my father's 72 BMW R75 he bought new. Going thru that now.

And for the reason I joined the board, I just bought a 1990 GS500 off Ebay. Picking it up next weekend. Not sure what i'm going to do with it yet. A friend of mine may buy it after I get it going, or I may make a track bike out of it.

The riding bug is back bad, and that may be my way to do it for now. As you can see, I like twins.
1990 GS500, 1979 GS850, 1974 TX650, 1972 BMW R/75/5, 1972 Triumph chopper. All in various stages of repair.

Steve living in Dallas.

25 and male.  Single and just getting into bikes.  Took the MSF a few months ago and bought my first bike early Feb, a '95 GS500 I'm trying to bring back to life.  Looking for anyone to learn from and log some miles before I upgrade to something a little bigger.

Anyone up for a weekend ride in the area with a newbie, drop me a line.   Or, hey, need a lawyer, I do that to support my new habit.

My name is Kevin and I am a motorcycle junkie. I have since realized there is no cure for this addiction. Only many hours in the saddle will help to contain it.

I started riding in 1988. From there I spent many years bracket racing a GSXR750/1100. Motorcycles became a passion and not just a hobby. In May of 1994 I was hired by MR Motorcycles in Asheville, NC as a parts salesman and general hooligan. Life is good.

My greatest hero and major inspiration, my dad, told me "find a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life". Truer words have never been spoken. Life is good.

In 2002, I received a promotion to Assistant Parts Manager. My duties consist of our website for wholesale orders, supervising a full staff of enthusiasts that answer our phones with 3 full time people in our shipping dept, and to maintain customer satisfaction. I am surrounded by what I love! Life is good.

To this day, I am still and will always be a hooligan. Spending many hours riding the mountains of Western North Carolina/North Georgia and of course the Deals Gap area.

To me I work in the greatest profession in the world. I talk to people all over the World about what I enjoy! Have I mentioned, Life is good!

So if you are in the Deals Gap/WNC/TN/Ga area and see a "kinda short for his weight" guy on a 'Busa or a ST1100, stop by and say hello!

....Ft. Bliss, TX.

I am a new rider with a '95 GS (Ebay rocks).

I am 33, 6' tall, 220 pounds, single, no kids.  The weather here in El Paso allows me to ride every day and I do.  Some days my schedule dictates that I can only ride to and from work, but I still ride.

Hi all....
Terry Burke, Casstown Ohio 30 miles north of Dayton.
Found a neglected 96GS5 sitting in a garage with a rusted up tank and plugged carbs. Its become an obsession. 3rd bike I've owned, 1st one I've wanted to take care of.
I'm 45, 12 years service mgr w/lift truck companies and heavy equipment. 12 years also as mechanic. Most weekends I'm found in the Dayton nightclubs as a musician. Keyboard player, classic rock, blues, country, whatever pays. Its therapy that I don't have to pay for, ha ha.
Married 24 years, 2 boys 21 & 22 eyeballin dad's GS. There may be more bikes in the garage afore its all over.

Really enjoy the forum.

Greetings from the San Francisco Bay Area!

I was looking to replace my rebel 250 and  found a nice GS500 this weekend.  Looking to correct some cosmetic damage sometime and will be frequenting the "Parts" forum from time to time.

All in all, the GS5 seems like a good match for me.  Can't wait for more sunny days. :thumb:

Happy riding everyone!
