Quote from: DomFull CF tank?  Do you epoxy in the mounting nuts and petcock valve?  Does the gas eat away at the resin?  I can't wrap my head around this. :?

I'd like to know this also - would definately buy a CF tank...!

dgyver

Once fully cured, the epoxy is not affected by gas. But most everyone I know of that has/had a carbon tank has leaked. Lining them is a possibility but with what product, I do not know yet.

As there are manufacturing processes that I have not yet perfected or even learned, do not expect any more of a carbon tank from me any time soon or even at all. The liability issues are very preventitive for me to sell them. There is a reason composite tanks sell for over $1,000.

how come no one has brought up a CF tank cover?? they make em for other bikes...  i've asked someone about this before and they said it would depend on the tanks themselves.  there is a degree of difference from tank to tank.  a consistancy, i forget wat it is called.  anyway if the consistancy from tank to tank is close enough, then a cover would be a good idea for those wanting a CF tank.

Are you referring to one these CF tank guards?
I have thought about them but have not had the time to develop anything new.

eeek!!!  price? date?!

carbon? glass? kevlar?

dgyver

Ok...found the epoxy at a more reasonable price.  :)

The SV huggers sell for $75 in carbon, so the GS should be about the same.

so you can cut out the seat setion of the race tail and use the stock seat? or do you make a solo seat the just slides over the factor seat? Very interested maybe be getting one once i figure out if i can use it how i want

dgyver

The race tail does fit over the stock seat. Not sure how much would need to be cut. The only issue would be the rear mounting bracket. It bolts to the subframe at the seat latch. A new bracket would need to be fabricated.

just curious...if someone send you an airtech titan tail..can you make it? it uses stock seat...but it costs 250 shells...ive read people wanting to have a solo seat..with a racy tail...

hopefully someone would be kind enough to send theirs...coz ive heard bad airtech stories and not bad dgyver/jamesg stories

dgyver

I could make a mold if someone wanted loan it but my turn around is not very quick.
