Is it normal for drops of fuel to leak from my GS while it is parked for a couple of days ? Is this normal if the Petcock is not on off. Would just putting the Fuel Petcock Valve on the engine to shutoff the supply of gasoline on OFF fix this ? Or is there more to this?

what?!

we have an off??  is that what pri means??  ';p

There is no off position actually, prime is  just the third position that allows us to start the bike if its been sitting for a while. If its leaking fuel then the gasket must be worn out or somehting, it shouldn't be too much to replace.
Peace

I priced the petcock by me and it was 97 plus tax and shipping. i saw it on bikebandit for 60 .

my petcock is definetly leaking, :(

i would like to rebuild it if there is a diaphram kit available

I assume if the petcock is all the way clockwise it is on Pri , level with the bike would be reserve, half turn back counter clockwise / another half turn counter clockwise and it would be on.

however for some reason when my is on ON position my bike will not run :x

I ran out of fuel yeaterday and i put 7 buck s in the tank and the bike still would not run in ON position.  :dunno: so to me on is really off if you understand me :)

is there a rebuld kit available? my bike is a 1997

any ideas?

You need to make sure the the 2 fuel lines coming out fo the valve on the bottom of the fuel tank are connected correctly.  The hose from the front fitting gets connected to the rear outside fitting on the frame mounted petcock.  The hose from the rear fitting gets connected to the front outside fitting on the petcock.  You probably have them reversed.  This will cause the ON position to be reserve, the REServe position to be on, and the PRIme position is nonfunctional.

Just came gike from Biking...Guess What ?
I am having to much fun riding then the bike starts to bog down.
Come to a full stop...Oups no more gas in the tank
again, for the second Time!!
Thank god I have that Reserve position on the Petcock.
Freakin thing did not work, again!!!
Does the Reserve have its own line?
& is it a common problem that it may get blocked??

Thanks

P.S. Only had to walk with the bike a mile and half to get to the gas station.

Catcams, read post number 6.  It's in English.  Maybe that's the problem, you live in Montreal.

I think there is a problem with the petcocks on these bikes. I am having wierd issues with mine.

mine was bogging. it was out of gas, seem to only want to run in pri position.

my reserve pull me for 3/10 of a mile but that was it.
