Location, Pittsburg Kansas.

My first bike was a brand new RD400 for $1175. Best money ever spent. Beautiful blue color, I rubbed that thing endlessly. Ended up putting DG exapansion chambers, K&N's, and rejetted the thing endlessly to find the best acceleration. Rode wheelies all the time to impress the girls and took corners like an idiot because I wanted to be Kenny Roberts. (Yes, it was a long time ago.) Didn't get another bike until this one, and I'm glad I did it.

My best friend had a GS 400 with a digital readout for the gears. It was no contest against my RD when we raced. After all these years my 99 GS certainly doesn't feel more advanced, though I'm sure it is.

Actually, the RD was fairly comparable to the baby GS. I think the RD was more fun in town, but the GS is certainly better on the highway. However, I love this bike, and I'll have to see how it does after the mods to know whether I'm going to move up. I see people talking about being "addicted" to torque, and I believe that at some point I'll move in that direction for the "grin factor."

Anyway, informative forum, learned a lot here. I wonder what I would have been like on a forum if they'd had one back then.

Me? I'm 29, living here in the distant, cold land called Finland.

IT security consultant, working with firewalls & such.

Just got a GS500 few weeks ago; not my first bike, but a first "real" bike I've owned. Real being over 125cc, we've got this driving license thing; trying to get our kids/newbies not killed. Which in itself is a good thing, although they do tend to complain about it... don't know why. Makes sense to me.

Having said that, I've ridden some bigger bikes before this; just didn't have extra cash (had to study, buy cars etc.) to buy a bike sooner, so after a decade I'm BACK IN BUSINESS! :thumb:

Superman55

Hello. I am Andrew (aka Superman55). I live out on LI in NY. I ride an 04 GS500f, my first real street bike. I used a 1980 Honda CM400T (Yes I hear you laughing) to learn on and practice before taking the course out here through Trama. Looking for new things to do to the GS. Have done the fenderectomy (after 2days) LP front & rear turn signals, clear tail, tank pad. Not too many options yet. Want to send in my ign advancer to Bob Broussard but don't know how to accomplish that yet. :dunno: Any info I can get is info not wasted. Thanks all.

Hi people :) I have been reading this great board for a few months now. I am new to riding at the age of 37. I picked up a great 2001 GS that belonged to Piper (bike is full of mods that I am only now starting to understand).

My first 800 miles have been a blast

ggadbow

Hi folks. I've been reading this site a lot lately so I thought I better introduce myself. I'm Grady Gadbow, a 27 year old handsome man living in Portland, Oregon. I'm originally from Montana as are my three slacker musician roomates. Spent the last ten years playing in punk bands and avoiding responsibility. Now I'm going back in school at Portland State for Poli Sci. Gonna figure out the gubberment and get a real real job as they say. It's real hard to concentrate on a term paper though with this brand new (to me) 2000 gs500 in the garage. Black, unfaired, clip-ons, Yosh pipe, no gauges and gorgeous. Girlfriend just bought a 68 CL175 and she's learning to ride. It's gonna be a fun summer!
Grease,
ggadbow.

Hey yall. I just joined yesterday. I am a 20 year old college student living in San Antonio, Tx. Perfect riding weather. Just the humidity bites. I just got my Black/red/grey 05 GS500F today. I love it! I liked the gas mileage. I also own a 02 Honda Civic Coupe. I love that also.

I had origionally planed on getting a Kawasaki 500R, but I couldn't find one within a 300 mile radius of South Central Texas. So the salesman recomended this. I am gald I got this one instead. It has better styling. I didn't like that the ninja had a square headlight. Peace.
