Front Fender Colors

Ok, one of the things that has always bothered me is the black front fender on my '04 GS500F. What the hell? Why can't it be blue, you know, like the rest of the bike? :)

So I was considering some options.

1) Paint it. Duh. Get some Suzuki paint, the paint code, and go to town with it to match.

2) IF, they are interchangeable, which I assume them to be, I could get a brand new OEM front fender for a naked 2005 Suzuki GS500 (like they sell in the UK http://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk). Does anyone "know" if they are the same?

I'd like to eventually do one or the other. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Advice?  :thumb:

go to the local parts store and find a rattle can that matches.

This has bothered me as well.  I am sure they are the same.  Where can you order these at?  I think I am gonna get one.

I was thinking of calling a Suzuki dealer in the UK if necessary..and having it shipped over. Maybe I will try a local Zuki dealer first and see if they are any help. I'd like to do it though, it would just look better.

Whoa, that will be expensive compared to rattle can. The next step up would be Color-Rite, but they have a minimum quantity order. Cheesy just went through this to the tune of close to $100 +/- a Jackson or so.

The blue of your bike is probably color code YC2 Candy Grand Blue. This code is from the 2001+ chart I got online somewhere. Check with Color-Rite before ordering this.

Are you telling us that the UK version is already painted?

The color chart here on GSTwin only goes to 2001 and needs to viewed from a name-only perspective. The colors on the page are not spectrally correct and are for relative reference only.

Yes, the front fenders on the 2005 UK model GS500's (not the "F" model) are already body color blue. Yet the F's are black, just like th ones here in the states. That is why I was wondering if they were interchangable.

I might try the paint to match thing, it would be cheaper, but I don't want it to look like a hackjob either :)

Suzuki apparently doesn't sell the paint. Color rite is kinda pricy... I took my parts to a body shop. I removed the front fender, tail section, undertail and hugger to be painted. I also sent my right lower fairing so he could match the color... Not bad, he spent almost two weeks trying to mix the paint (he had some higher paying jobs going too) and when it was done I have an all blue F model... Except for the painted stuff on the tank and fairing decals but I kinda like them.. Grand total.... $150 plus tax..
