On the off chance that anyone does a search for the above, I'll link to this thread, which has useful pictures and info for hose routing. ;)

I did a mild rejet; I only bumped the mains.  My pic of the new ones are at home, so I'll add the size I used when I get back home.  :P  No other changes; mix screws exactly three turns out.  The instructions for the 2001s worked fine, except there were NO brass plugs over the mix screws on my '04.

Titanium Wileyco and flange from Srinath.  That was a lot easier than the rejetting.  Pull the farings, pull the headers; two Allen screws on each header, diagonally across from each other.

I washed the headers, cut just behind the weld using my Craftsman rotary tool to cut and then to smooth the cut edge, and painted them with the same flat black paint as I used on the flange.  No, I didn't get paint all over the floor; I remembered to take a pic while I was putting the newspaper in the trash. :P

Stock and not.  The Wileyco is significantly lighter than stock.

Some folk like the 500F without the lowers.  I don't.  The upper fairing looks... heavy alone.

Whack the flange into place with the heel of my hand.

Out and about.  Report - the sound is very different from stock.  The engine still sounds like a sewing machine, but the exhaust is loud and throaty and drowns the engine out nicely without being horribly loud.  It is crisper and lacks the burble of the V-twin aftermarket exhausts I've heard.  The engine character is altered; it's a little less cold-blooded (needs less choke and needs it for a shorter time) and the throttle response is smoother.  I don't really detect a power difference, but that's not what I wanted out of it; I wanted the change in character and noise, and I got that.

Good pics and I like your visor.. I'll get one (Wileyco) installed some day, but after I scrounge up enough $$$ for progressive springs :)

not much of a rejet... did you get a flange with a choker, or without?
2001 GS500 (no letter!)
Progressive springs; Kat600 shock; 15T front sprocket; Wileyco exhaust w/ Srinath flange; rear fenderectomy; Airbrush hugger; desperately in need of rejetting.

Was there any welding required to install the flange?

And also did you have to take the lower fairings off to install the exhaust or just remove it to rejet?

No welding.

I didn't have to take off the fairings to rejet, just the gas tank.  I took off the lowers to remove the headers so I could wash and paint them.  I think you might be able to do just the cut and install without removing the headers and fairing if you used a Dremel or the like, but it'd be awfully tight.

Blazinjr

What did you do with your centerstand?

I kind of need it because I keep the bike on my front porch and if it is leaning over it is in the way.

BTW I have some thinner blades for my sawzall and I hope I do not have to remove the header.

Ive got a 94 gs500e and I noticed that little radiator looking thing in one of the pictures and my bike doesnt have that.  I was just wondering what that is and is it something that they added to the F or is it an aftermarket something or other?

For the moment, I jammed a rappel cinch that I have lying around between the dogbone and the centerstand, and that's keeping it off of the chain.  I'm soliciting my racing friends for a chunk of rubber (destroyed tire, old bushing), and plan to drill a hole in the centerstand's arm and use a bolt to affix it as a more permanent stop.

I have to paint my flange when I get around to putting the wileyco on... might as well paint the headers too, I think they're showing just a slight bit of rust. So, from a wrenching noob: what kind of paint do I want? Where to get it? etc.

you definitely want to use high temp engine paint. I know they sell black, blue, orange, red at AutoZone about $5 a can.

I used Home Despot Rust-Oleum high-heat matte black BBQ paint.

Blazinjr

did you paint that in your kitchen on the floor with the white cabinets in there?

Are they now grey?

I keep forgetting to look up the size of the mains I put in... I'll do it tonight, I promise.  But I actually have a RWHP number to give to this mod; 41.2.

I wish I had gotten a legend; they weren't doing printouts, and all I got was this pic and that the cyan line is hp.  One thing I don't like is the flat spot just before 90; comments?
