Pandy should receive the new-and-improved West Coast kit any minute now.  Here's what's in it:

The kit now includes digital calipers rather than the dual-dial "mechanical" ones.  And a clean copy of the shim selection chart. :lol:  As far as donations, someone:
    * Gave up their own copy of the video on CD :thumb:
    * Replaced the original tube of gasket sealant. :thumb:
    * Tossed in three small
M5 .08 x 12mm screws.  To replace stripped oil filter cover studs, maybe? :dunno:
* Added a 7/32" Allen wrench :dunno:
* Included a larger precision screwdriver.  Guess they didn't want to snap my teeny one on a stubborn shim?[/list:u]Here is the current list of included shim sizes:
    * 2.15 "last resort" test shim (1)
    * 2.40 test shim (1)
    * 2.65 (6)
    * 2.68 (1)
    * 2.70 (2)
    * 2.75 (1)
    * 2.85 :o (1)[/list:u]

weaselnoze (and others in line for the east coast kit) - I am terribly sorry for the delay in getting the damned thing shipped out.  I gave it to my wife to drop off at the post office over a week ago and it has been riding around in her trunk ever since.  The box it was in got smashed up a bit, so I had to re-pack it.  All of the tools and shims and the CD should be there and in good condition.

pandy

I just received the West Coast kit, beautifully packed. :)  :)  :)

The CD is amazing. Kerry, you're the Julia Childs of the GS world!!! ;)

Thanks for sending!! I'll try to do the valves this weekend, but we're going out of town (late anniversary celebration  :mrgreen: ), so it might not be until the following weekend.

Whoever's next on the West Coast list (is there anyone?), PM me, and I'll ship it off to you next.

Thanks again, Kerry!!!!!!  :cheers:

JunaryBunch,

I live in Fairfax city, so I'm thinking we could meet somewhere halfway instead of shipping, or if you want we could work on the bikes together and get done quicker.  Do you have a garage?

On a different note, how's the east coast kit coming?  Who has it now?

Just sent you a PM - so whenever you or I get the kit, we can contact each other.

So pandy ... how did the weekend wrenching session go?  Did you achieve "valve adjustment nirvana"? 8)

Are you waiting on some replacement shims, perhaps?

Wait a sec --  you got a "new" bike over the weekend.  Never mind; forget I asked.  :)

:lol: Yeah, the "new" bike was quite a trek to get, so we didn't have much juice left to attack the valves. Fortunately, there's no one else on the west coast list, or I'd have just sent the kit on and put myself on the list again. We're aiming for next Saturday now (I didn't want to tear my bike down yesterday and then not have it to commute this week....I'm spoiled with commuting on two wheels now).  :lol:

Sanjay PM'd me for the west coast kit. I don't think there's anyone else on the west coast list, is there?

If not, then I'll send him the kit after this weekend's wrenching!  :thumb:

OK!! I think the valves are adjusted! I can't take much of the credit, though.  :oops:  Have I mentioned that I have the best boyfriend in the world??? The video really is killer, though, so I *could* have done it if I needed to.... But I was the assistant. ;) (I have no doubt that he'll hand me the tools next time ;) ). I was fortunate that an almost-local bike shop had shims in stock, so I made a shim run while my boyfriend installed the alarm I'd purchased recently. There were quite a few 2.65 shims in the kit, and now I've added another :P ...popular size! ;) I *did* do *some* of the wrenching...  :dunno: So now I can add valve adjusting to my short list of know-how!  :thumb:  :mrgreen:

Now just to figure out that little oil leak that seems to be getting worse.  :x

So, I expect that the test ride we take tomorrow will allow me to mail the kit off to Sanjay on Tuesday, so PM me your address, Sanjay.

Thanks again for the kit, Kerry!

pandy  :mrgreen:

P.S. After the adjustment, he started right up and sounds good to me! Can't wait for tomorrow morning's ride!!!!  :cheers:  :mrgreen:

Update: Nice test ride. He's running well. Heck, he has almost as much power as a gixxer 600 now (ok, not really, but it makes him feel better to think so).  :thumb:
