All quiver in fear before the 8904 Frankenbike!   Cobbled together from parts found in a K-Mart blue-light-special bin and stuck together with ABC gum by Srinath the mad genius!

Here is a picture of the '89 GS500 That i purchased a few hours ago from cheesy.  The guy on my bike is a coworker (ricer), and the guy on the red VFR is my roommate (the VFR belongs to him).

So sweet, but those fairings are coming right  off as soon as I have my gear and license in hand.  As an aside, my bike bears more than a passing resemblance to Phaedrus's, don't you think?

I'll have to think of a name for her.

And the friday night hits just keep on coming...

I thought the name cheesy sounded familiar.  :)  I was talking with him over at R1 Forum via PM about his bike.  Congrats on the new bike!   :thumb:

I'm not even sure that can be called a frankenbike. To me it looks more like a '04 that's been pimped out a bit.  I've seen some pics of frankenbikes that basically sing out "one of these things just doesn't belong here, one of these things just isn't the same"
Way too good of a job to have the frankenname.

Also, I guess I'm one of the few that really dig the white wheels on a blue/white bike.  I remember when I first started looking at bikes and saw some late 90s Gixxers for sell and thought "boy those white wheels really set that bike off."
Build a man a fire and he is warm for a day, set a man on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life!

Actually, the white wheels are stock, and I do agree that the white color does give the bike a nice sense of composition.

Good point on the 'frankenbike'  moniker.  It probably isn't an apt characterization in this particular case... but I should point out  that this bike is actually an '89  with most of the pieces that people use as visual references to distinguish make/model are from an '04 (tail, fairing, headlight).

Its absolutely beautiful for a first bike.  I think Suzuki finally 'got the point' when they started offering full fairings on the gs500 line.  Newbie-friendly-rideability aside, I think the reason that kawi ninjas are so popular is that they are really the only OEM fully faired 'rookie' bike.

Their only problem is their look hasn't been updated since 1982
I wouldn't be surprised if 7 years from now the gs500 were as prevalent as the kawi ninja 250's and 500's among new riders.

pandy

WooooHoooo!! Congrats! What a beauty!!! (The bike, silly! ;) )

The white wheels look a LOT better on a blue/white bike than on....say....a black one like mine.

Ride safely!!

Why are the fairings coming off?
2000 GSX600F, 98 Plymouth Neon, 03 Pontiac Grand AM GT

Funniest name I was ever called on here "cap'n fast n' furious"

A guy once told me "having nitrous on your car is alot like dating a hot girl with a STD, your afraid to hit it because of what might happen."

Roadstergal

I like!  Very nicely done!

Good idea to go without the fairings for 6months->1year.  I think it'll be cool when you put them back on - a whole new bike!

The Buddha

Yea Those front T/s'es are cheesy''s work, the blue front fender is also a good call man, that black was just disaster ... heck looked better with your stock white front fender ... the franken bike is just in name, its a very factroy look alike ... since it came from a factory (srinath's magic factory) ...
Cool.

To protect them.

The fairings are coming off until I am reasonably secure that I won't put the bike on its side.  Cheesy told me that srinath owes him (me, now) some kind of protective tubes I can attach to the frame in case of a drop.  Should come in handy if i can get srinath to ship them

The Buddha

OK the old case guards ... yea now The ones that will fit on an 04 are yet to be made ... maybe I should get that started ... The ones I have right now will fit the bike without the fairing ... So You could fit these and then I'll swap it out if and when I make the new type.
Cool.

Sounds like a plan!  I'll PM you with my address I guess.

Srinath, do you have any case guards that will fit a 91?  I'd like a set, if you do.

Code4
