ANYWAY, I don't have a pocket bike but if I come accross one cheap I think I'd get it for simple amusements. Some of them have a lot of power and can do power wheelies without even trying!  :thumb:  But I don't think I'd put much money into one..not much use for it, atleast for me. If I could find a practical use for it, yeah, they look fun.

Someone at work is selling theirs, it is a Ninja replica, nice looking but they want like $500 for it. $500 I would rather put into something else at this point.
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

I nearly had to sue a motorcycle shop because they sold a pocket bike to my client and it wasn't as fast as they said it would be.  My client, who is a starting cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs, wanted it to go 60mph!!!  What a moron.  You think Kellen Winslow Jr. got some crap?  Imagine wrecking a pocket bike and getting hurt!  You would not be able to hide you shame.

I've ridden one.  It isn't that cool.  Maybe a good pit bike if you go racing, but useless as hen sh*t on a pump handle.

Bugs the hell out of me when people ride them on sidewalks and bike paths.  The next time I see one, I'm going to kick it over, and I hope the guy lands on his helmetless head and knocks a little sense into it.

A kid was killed last year when he tried to run from the cops on one and hit a bump.  No gear.

roguegeek

I believe they are completely illegal for street and sidewalk use here in Cali. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

They're not street-legal anywhere in the US, AFAIK, and most places have rules against motor vehicles on sidewalks and bike paths.

But that doesn't seem to actually stop anyone.

Alphamazing

There are a few people I know that have one. The only thing they do with their pocket bikes is race them. There are indoor race courses here that are apparently a lot of fun to watch/participate in if you've got a pocket bike. 45mph top speed, I hear.

Ja, I've heard they're fun for racing.  My rant is confined to people who take them off of private property.

Alphamazing

Yeah, people who ride them on the street usually get hit by cars. I have no sympathy for idiots.

I'd never seen one before yesterday...driving home (after sunset!) I saw a pair riding 2-abreast along the side of the road in the opposite direction as me, followed by an "acutal-size" motorcycle.  They had traffic behind backed up a bit, since it looked like no one wanted to scoot around them.  The whole thing looked idiotic to me.

That's ok...  I can't really call that kid stupid...

I almost killed myself yesterday racing a Corvette...

groff22

I bought one off of ebay about a month ago for $100 (CAD) + $100 shipping. I couldn't pass up on the bid for that price...

Don't expect more than 10-15 minutes of fun before you're ready to call it a day... Unless you have some parkinglot racing in mind :) They zip around pretty well, but if you get one of these cheaper models, make sure you have a plan to make the handlebars a little more sturdy... No matter how tight they are, they always still seem to come loose... I've wrecked on it already because of this.

Also, if you get a fully faired version, you should probably get some reflective  tape, or tin foil on the inside of the fairing to keep the plastic from melting...

Here's a pic...

Maybe this winter I'll paint it in 04' F colors to make it look super snazzy :)

Yes, they are illegal for regular street usage.
