Yes, it does move your COG higher. Your legs are higher up than they used to be. Your legs weigh a considerable amount, one of the largest percentages of your body (next to your torso). When you raise that amount of mass up, it raises the center of gravity.

I lay on the tank at tuck but leave my feet where they belong.  On extended trips when I think about streaching, i just take a break.  On that not I am with davipu, we want pics 8)

I lean down on the tank bag (which is 5 or 6 inches high).  If I were to lean down any further, I wouldn't be able to tilt my head back up enough to see the road. As it is I don't do it for long 'cause my neck gets sore.

Sometimes if I need to take all of the pressure off my arms for a bit, I'll  put the balls of my feet on the pegs and lift my heels.  This brings my knees far enough up that I can actiually rest my elbows on my knees.  Then I lean my chest on the tank bag.  It's a nice break.

On the highway, to get a stretch for a few minutes, I hang my feet on the rear pegs and lean on the tank bag which is pretty thick. Feels very comfortable. Sometimes I just put one foot back at a time to increase the safety aspect. I have never done any of this near City traffic or on highways that are anything but 'near prairie' condition - u know - straight and almost flat with wheat fields on the sides, not trees. Anyway I do it once in a while. I've stuck my legs out to the side to stretch but had a pretty bad experience with muscle cramping in my hip!  :o Bloody hell that hurts and you can't stretch it out until you stop and get off! So the rear pegs work best for me in this situation.

I had to do it on one on trip from Kelowna to Edmonton. 950kms and I did it in 12 hours total with 3 breaks for food and fuel. Had to get home from the Sport Bike West Rally because my wife was in hospital having emergency surgery to remove her appendix!  :o I would never have been able to do it on any bike that wouldn't allow the room to move around and lay down on it like the GS does. Great bike!  :thumb: I keep thinking about this every time I consider 'moving up'.
Take care and Ride Safe you southerners!
