I read on Pantablo's page that the SV chain gaurd is a direct bolt on, so I was wondering if the SV hugger would work too, Im getting a wider wheel so it might be an option, yes no.

it may not be anything changed. It seems that the sv chainguards sometimes need the holes slotted or new ones drilled to make them fit on some GS bikes. No explanation why. Some have installed them without problem others have had to drill...Suzuki tollerances again. :dunno:

No it wont work. The SV swingarm is significantly different at the front end to the GS swingarm and you'd be fabbing up one from scratch by the time you were done "trimming" the sv hugger to fit the GS. A member here had both a gs and a SV (that's how we know the chainguard fits) and it was clear the SV hugger didnt fit.

Yes the chain guard will fit with usualy only one hole needed to be drilled and maybe a spacer or two. A real two minute easy mod to do. I took an after market hugger off of my SV to check and without some serious hacking and drilling into the swingarm or use of cable ties it wont fit.

Since the 99-02 SV never had a hugger as such and all are aftermarket ones this is a pain in the ass mod and expensive one to do. Go with the bandit option or a genuine aftermarket one for the GS.

So far now I have the SV rear sets, chain guard, exhaust and shock on my SV. Nice to have modded the SV and had free parts left spare around to put it free onto the GS.

I see, Thanks for the info Pablo, that saved me a big headache.

So did you get aluizio's rear hugger? looks pretty sweet, unless you want to change rims ;P

New Guy

I understand that the Bandit 400 has the coveted hugger for the GS. But will a chain guard from a bandit 4/6/12 fit the GS?
Mine's a '91 btw.

airbrush

I make rear huggers made to fit the gs....available in fibreglass or carbon fibre version. Here is the link in the for sale section:

OK.
Let me try this again...
I understand that the hugger from a Bandit 400 can be modified to fit the GS.
I also understand that "Airbrush" makes a sweet hugger specifically for the GS.
Further, I know (from Pablo's site) that the chain guard from the SV650 will bolt right onto my GS.

My question is this:
Will the chain guard from a Bandit 400, 600 OR 1200 fit my 1991 GS without midification?

EazyAsOne23 & NewGuy;
If you click the first link in my sig you can see a couple of pics of what airbrush's hugger looks like installed. Might help to see it on a bike.  :thumb:

I recently had JEFF from airbrush make me a carbon hugger. He is very easy to deal with. Hugger came pre- drilled with assembly hardware and instruction sheet. Fit and finish Is excellent! From first e-mail to delivrey was only 2 weeks. He also threw in his bitchin GS 500 key chain for 10 bucks. Jeff also  makes a peimer one too. GOOD LUCK!

I always thought if I got a hugger I'd have it painting a lighter colour, so it wouldn't blend with the tire. Is it really even noticable in black?
