What traffic officer is going to write a ticket to the state governer?  That's a very powerful position (obviously) and there are certain perks that go along with government jobs.  If the DA's office wants to press the issue then that's their perogative.  I wouldn't bet on them being re-appointed if they do.  I'm an assistant auditor for my county; let's just say I don't have to worry about minor tickets either.

I'm sure most any "liberal" would be honored to write-up a Republican governor for the odd traffic violation.  As for reprisals, Schwartzenegger isn't that petty (or corrupt).  Writing tickets are in the job description and no LEO should be excused for bending the law for reasons of race, religion, politics, sex/marital status/cup-size, social hierarchy, or celebrity .     DA's are elected officials, and yes, Govt auditors are truly in a position to be feared!

Dunno about CA, but it's $230 due north.  Don't ask me how I know blah, blah.     You can continue on your way depending on the circumstances.
