That happened in TX (two years ago).... the rider was keith (a guy I know from another board)... he luckily got away with only a bit of a hurt knee, shoulder and scraped hand a bit.

He was going about 60mph when he hit, he said he never saw it until it was in front of him when it was too late. The guy riding behind him couldnt avoid it either and ran over its neck, so the deer was more than dead when all was said and done. The other guy however was lucky enough not to go down.

Thanks for the explanation.  "Glad it was quick" for the deer and not that harmful for the rider or bike.  As the video suggested, you never know when your gear will save your skin.

Makes me want to have more than a pair of Draggin' Jeans from the waist down.  Leather is hard to find for someone with a 36" inseam, and I'm still of two minds on getting an Aerostich suit -- I'd rather save it for my next bike, whatever that may be...

Why save it for your 'next bike'? Why wait, when you can have now, and have it later?
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

I don't know about leathers, but I have a 36" inseam, and a pair of FirstGear overpants (in 'tall') that fit me well, and were less than $200.  Thery're nylon, not leather, but with foam padding in all the right places, and I trust them a lot more than I would a pair of draggin' jeans.  And for my one minor get-off, they worked perfectly.

I agree... deers like to jump out of nowhere to startle drivers/riders... is as if they just sit around next to a road and as soon as they see some lights coming, they get ready to jump...  :cookoo:
Caturday yet?

Maybe, thousands of years ago, Deer and Man started playing a game of Tag. Only Man forgot and Deer remembered. And the Deer really ARE waiting around curves and behind trees ready to jump out and tag any Man they see. Only the Deer don't quite understand automobiles and motorcycles. The Deer expect to tag us, yell "YOU'RE IT" and we're supposed to run after them. Not, you know, crush them.

Just a thought. (okay, maybe not a coherent thought)
